Son Of Odin[edit]

Making a Son Of Odin[edit]

A Son Of Odin is a warrior of the Norse gods. With the exception of feats of strength granted to him by the gods, he has a disdain for magic and those who use. A Son Of Odin can get along great with any class that relies solely on their martial prowess, respect Druids and Rangers as they are in tune with natural forces, respect Paladins and Clerics as they are embodiment of that which they worship much like the Sons Of Odin themselves. They somewhat get along with Sorcerers as they use magic as it comes naturally to them, just as the sword arm of a Son Of Odin is to him, but will often turn the other cheek for it's use. They hold a distaste for Wizards as they have no natural prowess with their magic. They do not like Rouges, as many Sons feel they are dishonorable. A Son Of Odin could talk with a Bard for days as they love to share and hear tales of battle, glory and honor.

Abilities: Strength and Constitution are a Sons Of Odin's key abilities. Dexterity and Wisdom are good to have, as they help the Son Of Odin move through and perceive the battlefield, and a sharp mind is good but not as necessary and they may try to be polite. A Son Of Odin usually keeps what they have to say short.

Races: Any, however because the Nordic religion comes from Humans, they are the most common race to become a Son. It isn't common for Dwarves to be Sons, and all other races view them as savage and barbarous.

Alignment: Any non-Good.

Religion: Sons of Odin must worship a god or gods consisting of: Odin, Thor, Loki, Eir, Hiln, Hoar, Ran, or Ullr.

Starting Gold: 4d6×10 gp (100 gp).

Starting Age: "Moderate" or "As fighter".

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Sons Of Odin:

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Sons Of Odin are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, light armor, medium armor, and shields (not tower shields).

Impressive Bulk (Ex): A Son Of Odin can use his Strength modifier for Intimidate instead of his Charisma modifier.

Refusal of Magic (Ex): A Son of Odin cannot multiclass or prestige into a class that grants spellcasting (including variants such as infusions) or manifesting, if they are already possess spell-casting (including variants such as infusions) or manifesting ability then they lose that ability irrevocably. Furthermore, whenever they are subject to a a spell or psionic effect you must resist it if it allows a saving throw, even if it is harmless or beneficial. If you possess spell resistance you cannot voluntarily lower your resistance. In addition they cannot use the skill Use Magic Device, cannot willingly consume potions, activate spellstoring items, activate spell trigger items, activate spell completion items, or any other item that duplicates a spell or psionic effect. Therefore while they may use magical arms and armor, they may not use any item that provides a continuous or temporary spell effect as the spell. A Son of Odin for instance may use a Ring of Sustenance as it does not produce a continuous or temporary spell effect, but may not use a Ring of Freedom of Movement which produces a spell effect.

Call to the Gods (Ex): At 3rd level and once per day as a standard action, the Son of Odin can give a prayer to the Norse gods. Roll a d6 and select the bonus from the table below as rolled:

Fighter Bonus Feat: Son Of Odin levels count as Fighter levels for feats, at 1st and 4th level a Son Of Odin gets a bonus feat that must be picked from the Fighter bonus feat list they receive a bonus feat every 4 levels thereafter.

War Cry (Ex):. A Son Of Odin gains the War Cry ability at 2nd level. As a free action, the Son of Odin can let out a loud bellow that invigorates himself and nearby allies within (30ft) giving them +2 to hit and damage for 1 round + the Son Of Odin's Charisma modifier. War Cry also makes any enemy within melee range + 5ft a Will save, DC will save (the Son Of Odin's Intimidate check, or be Shaken for 1 round + the Son Of Odin's Charisma modifier. Can only be used once per Constitution modifier per day.

Norse Physique (Ex): Starting at level 2 and every 4 levels thereafter, the Son of Odin gains a permanent + 1 bonus to Strength or Constitution ability of their choice.

Damage Reduction (Ex):A Son Of Odin is granted damage reduction by the Gods of War starting at 4th level with 1/- and increasing by 1 every 4 levels.

Uncanny dodge (Ex): Starting at 4th level, a Son of Odin can react to danger before their senses would normally allow them to do so. The will retain their Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) even if they are caught Flat-footed or struck by an invisible attacker. However, they still lose their Dexterity bonus to AC if immobilized.

Courage of Hoar (Su): At level 5 the Son Of Odin gains Courage of Hoar, which acts like a Paladin's Aura of Courage.

Strength of Thor (Su): Once/day at 6 level the Son Of Odin can call on the strength of Thor for +5 Strength that lasts a number of rounds equal to the Son's Strength level, when the strength of Thor runs out the Son Of Odin takes a temporary Strength drain of -4 until the Son Of Odin can rest for a full 8 hours.

Breath of Hodor Twice/day at level 7 level that Son of Odin can call upon the powers of Hodor. He can now be able to summon a wave of ice, which deals 10d8 of cold damage. A Reflex DC 20 will have the damage.

Glory of Ullr (Su): Up to three times per day, a Son of Odin may make an attack roll using his highest base attack bonus.

Greater War Cry (Ex): at 10th level the war cry range increases to 50ft, the bonus increases to +2, DC will save (the Son Of Odin's Intimidate check or the enemy's) are stunned for 1 round before starting the shaken rounds.

Shield of Hlin (Ex): At 11th level the Son Of Odin gains natural armor of +5.

Praise of Lofn (Ex): At 13th level, you gain a permanent +1 to attack rolls, and you gain + 2 to damage rolls.

Fires of Logi (Ex): At 15th level the Son Of Odin gains fire resistance 20.

Health of Odin (Ex): At 17th level the Son Of Odin gains a bonus to his hit points equal to his constitution score, this happens only once and does not increase their hp if their Constitution score goes up.

Thunder of Thor (Ex): at 19th level the Son Of Odin gains resistance 10 to lightning and sonic damage.

Health of Eir ([[SRD:(Ex): At 20th level the Son of Odin gains Fast Healing 50.

Ex-Sons Of Odin[edit]

An Ex-Son Of Odin is someone that willingly used or let someone use a friendly spell on him, with the exception of the Norse gods, or his alignment changes to a restricted alignment. The Son will lose all abilities except bonus feats, Norse Physique (and Epic, if applicable) and Impressive Bulk. In order to regain his power as a Son, he must, by himself, build a temple that will suit Odin, Thor, and Freya. From there, he must pray to them and bring them worthy sacrifices without stop for 7 days and 7 nights. It will be then that the Son will feel his power return to him. In the case of an alignment change, he must simply need to revert his alignment away from the restricted alignment, and make a prayer to Odin. Throughout either of these two paths, he can not receive any use of Atonement or abilities and spells that affect or disguise alignment.

Epic Son of Odin Class Features[edit]

Epic Norse Physique(Ex): Starting at level 22 and every 4 levels thereafter the Son Of Odin gains a permanent + 1 bonus to Strength and Constitution abilities.

The Berserker Rage: As an immediate action when brought to 0 health or lower, the Son of Odin may call upon the God of War. Odin bestows unto them, The Berserker Rage. The Son of Odin is healed to full health,gains Fast Healing +20, Spell/Energy/Elemental resistance 50, immunity to all physical damage (including adamantine/cold iron ect...), they gain an extra attack at their full base attack bonus, grants immunity to all mind/disease/poison/magic effects, and their total Strength value doubles. During the Berserker Rage, the Son of Odin can only discern friend from foe, and will not stop attacking until every last foe is slain. This ability lasts for your total level plus you wisdom modifier, and can be used a number of times per day equal to 2 plus your Wisdom modifier.
