[edit] Shield Veteran
The Shield Veteran. A master of the shield in unconventional ways. These warriors are Fighters that spend all their time training to use the shield as their main weapon. After long hours of training, the Shield Veteran can wield a shield on each arm and use each as if they were weapons. Their training has given them access to a unique set of skills that utilize the shield for both its typical defensive use but also for an unconventional offensive use. While their training has included tower shields, they can only use those for defensive purposes due to them being very awkward to swing around.
[edit] Making a Shield Veteran
Shield Veterans are front-line fighters who can hold off a number of attacks while the rest of the party either retreats or fights back. If they decide to go into combat, they prefer to put up both shields to act like a wall while they work their way towards their enemy. Once in melee range, Shield Veterans are known for using a deadly array of shield attacks that either stun enemies, knock them back, or deal extra damage. Shield Veterans prefer to work in parties and try to take as many attacks as possible in order to let the rest of the party fight on unharmed.
Abilities: Shield Veterans need Strength and Dexterity the most so they can make the most out of their shield skills. They also use Constitution to make sure they have the health to last in combat longer.
Races: Anyone who uses shields can become a Shield Veteran
Alignment: Any

[edit] Class Features
All of the following are class features of the Shield Veteran.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A Shield Veteran is proficient with all armor (heavy, medium, and light) and shields (including tower shields).
Bonus Feats: At 1st level, a Shield Veteran gets a bonus combat-oriented feat in addition to the feat that any 1st-level character gets and the bonus feat granted to a human character. The Shield Veteran gains an additional bonus feat at 2nd level and every four Shield Veteran levels thereafter (6th, 10th, 14th, and 18th,). These bonus feats must be drawn from the feats noted as fighter bonus feats. A Shield Veteran must still meet all prerequisites for a bonus feat, including ability score and base attack bonus minimums. These Shield Veteran levels count as Fighter levels for feats that require Fighter levels.
Dual Shielding (Ex): At first level, the Shield Veteran has learned how to dual wield shields and use them as weapons. He still gets the AC bonus from each shield. This works similarly to the Two-Weapon Fighting feat. Count light shields as light weapons and heavy and tower shields as heavy weapons.
Shield Expertise (Ex): The Shield Veteran's superior knowledge of shield use in combat grants him a better chance to strike a target with a shield. This ability grants +1 to hit at 1st level and increases +1 every 5 levels (+2 at 5th level, +3 at 10th level, etc).
Shield Charge(Ex): The Shield Veteran can perform a Shield Charge at 3rd level. When the Shield Veteran charges, he can dash from a maximum distance of 30' and deals an additional 2d6 damage. The target struck by a Shield Charge must make a fort save (DC 10 + 1/2 Shield Veteran level + Strength mod) or be stunned for 1d4 rounds and knocked back 10' for every 5' charged. This does not incur the -2 AC penalty of a normal charge attack.
Shield Bash (Ex): At 4th level, the Shield Veteran can use either shield to bash an enemy for +1d8 damage. This damage increases 1d8 every 4 levels afterward.
Shield Fortress (Ex): An 8th level Shield Veteran has learned how to use the shields to make a nearly impenetrable fortress. By using this ability the Shield Veteran is considered to have total concealment and gains a bonus to AC but cannot move once activated. The bonus starts at +2 AC and increases 2 every 4 levels. The Shield Veteran can also cover one creature of at least one size category smaller within the Shield Fortress, providing them the same benefits.
Spring Attack (Ex): While the Shield Veteran is in Shield Fortress, he can choose to do a Spring Attack where he leaps into the air while striking all enemies within reach. Targets of this attack are counted as flat-footed and deals an additional 1d8 damage. This is considered a full attack and can only be performed if the Shield Veteran is in Shield Fortress.
Box (Ex): At 10th level, the Shield Veteran can use both shields to strike a target on either side of their head. The target must make a fort save (DC 10 + 1/2 Shield Veteran level + Strength mod) or be stunned for 2d6 rounds and its AC is decreased by 5.
Shield Boomerang (Ex): At level 15, a Shield Veteran can throw one of his shields at a target. This thrown shield, if it hits, will boomerang back to the Shield Veteran. The shield can travel 30' and deals regular damage. Can only be used with circular shields and counts as a full attack.
