[edit] Class Features
All of the following are class features of the Shadow Stalker
Shadow Step (Ps): This adility functions exactly like the power dimension slide, except as noted here. The distance (in squares) traveled may not exceed one half class level +2, and she may only step to somewhere that there could be a shadow at, such as next to a person. Using this ability is a standard action that provokes attacks of opportunity.
Sneak Attack: This is exactly like the Rogue ability of the same name. The extra damage dealt increases by +1d6 every other level except for fourth and eighth (2nd, 6th, 10th). If a Shadow Stalker gets a sneak attack bonus from another source, the bonuses on damage stack.
Quick Step (Ps): At level 3, a Shadow Stalker may make a shadow step as a move action.
Hide in Plain Sight (Su): A Shadow Stalker can use the Hide skill even while being observed. As long as she is within 10 feet of some sort of shadow, a Shadow Stalker can hide herself from view in the open without anything to actually hide behind. She cannot, however, hide in her own shadow.
Surprising Step (Ps): Whenever a Shadow Stalker Steps next to a foe, the foe must make a Reflex Save, DC (10 + one half class level). If the foe fails and is not flanked, she may treat it as though it were for her next attack. If the foe fails and is flanked, she may instead treat the foe as flatfooted.
Dance of Shadow (Ps): When using the attack action with a melee weapon, she may step both before and after the attack, provided that her total distance stepped is not greater than her maximum step distance. Stepping in this way does not provoke an attack of opportunity from the defender when she steps away.
Defensive Roll (Ex): Starting at 7th level, once per day, when a Shadow Stalker would be reduced to 0 hit points or less by damage in combat (from a weapon or other blow, not a spell or special ability), she can attempt to roll with the damage. She makes a Reflex saving throw (DC=damage dealt) and, if successful, takes only half damage from the blow. She must be aware of the attack and able to react to it in order to execute her defensive roll. If she is in a situation that would deny her any Dexterity bonus to AC, she can’t attempt a defensive roll.
Improved Dance of Shadow (Ps): When using her Dance of Shadow ability, a Shadow Stalker may step, attack, step as normal, but then she may attack and step one additional time, provided that her total distance stepped is not greater than her maximum step distance +5ft. Stepping in this way does not provoke an attack of opportunity from the defenders when she steps away. When this effect is used with Surprising step, she may only Sneak Attack the same opponent once per round, unless she moves into a flanking position to her previous position.
Greater Dance of Shadow (Ps): When using her Dance of Shadow ability, a Shadow Stalker may step, attack, step as normal, but then she may attack and step two additional times, provided that her total distance stepped is not greater than her maximum step distance +10ft. Stepping in this way does not provoke an attack of opportunity from the defenders when she steps away. When this effect is used with Surprising step, she may only Sneak Attack the same opponent once per round, unless she moves into a flanking position to her previous position, to a maximum of twice per round.
Improved Evasion (Ex): This ability, gained at 10th level, works like evasion. A Shadow Stalker takes no damage at all on successful saving throws against attacks that allow a Reflex saving throw for half damage. What’s more, she takes only half damage even if she fails her saving throw.
