Unacceptable![edit]

stone giants are unacceptable!!! there is no excuse for 14 HD at a level adjustment of +4... that means you can have a level 5 character with 3 attacks, or more if you even try to break the character... i'm not sure why someone thought this would be okay...

Your comment suggest to me that you don't fully understand how racial hit dice (HD), level adjustments (LA), and class levels interact. Going strictly by the SRD, there's no such thing as a 5th-level stone giant character. With 14 HD, the minimum is a 14th-level character, and a +4 LA gives it an effective character level (ECL) of 18. ECL is a measure of what level it is in comparison to the standard races. So you wouldn't use a staring stone giant with a group of 1st-level humans/elves/dwarves/etc.. (or even 5th-level characters). You'd add it to a group that has other 18th-level characters. —Sledged (talk) 12:01, 10 March 2012 (MST)

I know this is SRD but...[edit]

The Monster Manual repeatedly points out they are not the hooligans they're thought to be, and that they prefer to fight from a distance, so why is their favored class barbarian? That doesn't make much sense. If there smarter than that, it should be fighter, and if they prefer ranged fighting, they should rangers. Not only that they're very artistic, so maybe even a bard. They're really not what I expect from a giant.
