[edit] Humans
The most populace race of Resmoroldo, though not the natural inhabitants. Coming to the land centuries ago, the humans began to populate the land. First with dotted colonies, then staking their rightful claims as lords and queens. The humans clashed with the native races, their new homes interfering with the realms of elves and halflings in particular. Over the course of the years, the humans have adapted with the other races and forged peace with them, thought he elves still resent their alien allies, they indeed remain allies nonetheless.
[edit] Elves
One of the native races of Resmoroldo, and once it most glorious rulers, the elves had to swallow their pride and make room for foreign races. Among all the other races, the elves of Resmoroldo are true to their nature as they remain reclusive, elven towns secluded deep in the forest, trying to hide themselves away. This however, tends to be ineffective, particularly in Chal, as Thrax tends to cut down most of the forests and enslave their inhabitants. Still, the elves flourish in their quite forest domains, particularly in the neutral lands. The elves seem to hold the most disdain for Thrax and Hastrel, as they see the two as the sole people responsible for raping their native lands of its beauty.
[edit] Gnomes
The second of the two primary alien species, the gnomes are an industrious race of tinkerers, their tiny heads constantly filled with all the wonders of the world, contemplating, imagining, dreaming all the day. The gnomes have invented quite distinct devices and made several large strides for their race. The gnomes arrived on Resmoroldo shortly after the humans. Unlike the humans, who have a tendency to be imperialistic, the gnomes adapted quite well, forming quick alliances with the elves and the halflings. Airship travel is possible on Resmoroldo thanks to the gnomes, industrious little buggers they are. Indeed, the gnomes are brilliant at what they do, but at this point in time the gnomes tend to be forced by the two lords to tinker for their own gain.
[edit] Halflings
Native to Resmoroldo, the halflings carved their own niche many many generations ago. In this land, they forge good alliances with the Elves, and more recently the humans. They find the elves to be excellent and trustworthy friends, given the elves go contrary to their nature and still dislike the halflings nomadic and ever shifting lifestyle, they still can appreciate their wanderlust. The halflings are a proud people, and in fact the last native race to come under control of Thrax or Hastrel. Indeed, their fortresses, although small, held fast against the invasion of the "big people." The halflings still remain proud and powerful in these lands, Lord Thrax in fact choosing a halfling as his closest and most powerful adviser. Their race as a whole however, regardless of one of their own in such a position of power, still holds incredible disdain for the two lords, wishing only misfortune and bad tidings upon them.
[edit] Half-Elves
Their role is not true to the half-elven tradition of great diplomats and scholars, in fact, the half-elves are perhaps the most outcast race of Resmoroldo next to the half-orcs. They are considered half breeds, mutts to be cast aside. This was an underlying thought for many generations after the fist human settlements, but it became more evident now during the age of Twin Strife. Lord Hastrel dislikes half-elves because he dislikes elves and wishes to keep humankind pure. Lord Thrax does not trust half-elves, he finds their impurity to be shady and strangely foreboding. Ironic, he himself being a half-breed nonetheless.
[edit] Half-Orcs
In spite of their rather unruly past, the half-orcs of Resmoroldo have a reputation as the sophisticated barbarian people. Although the largest majority indeed embrace the path of the barbarian, choosing to live out in the wilds, many at the same time attempt to cover up their orc heritage. This trend supposedly began when the humans began colonizing, the half-orcs of that time were apparently bashful sorts, and they began to attempt to hide their lineage from those outside their communities. This does not however, say by any means that the half-orcs do not mingle with orcs, or attempt to stop the half and half bloodline no sir.
[edit] Dwarves
The lords of the mountains, with huge underground cities as their homes, the dwarven folk were once the lords of all Resmoroldo. Once is the key word that needs to be remembered when reading this, as the dwarves no longer possess the nobility they once did. During the great times of chaos when Thrax and Hastrel were seeking allies, they both tried to persuade the dwarves to their cause. Indeed, some would so willingly, but most stayed in their underground homes and refused to answer to either lord. This was the only instance when Lord Thrax and Lord Hastrel ever teamed up, as they did not want interference from the dwarves, they combined forces for a short while and killed at least 98% of the dwarven population on Resmoroldo in a grand battle that became known as the Umrach Shard. All of the dwarves of nowadays have gone underground, both literally and figuratively. The sighting of a dwarf in these days would most likely gain the attention of the guards, and perhaps one of the lords himself.
[edit] Alternative Races
The races listed above are simply the core races, and the roles that they tend to have in the land of Resmoroldo. This is by no means saying that other races may not have distinctive roles, indeed, as Lord Thrax himself is an Aasimar.
