Pridestalker (Pridestalkers)[edit]

Pride stalkers are lion-like humanoids that changed to walk like humans. They hunt for pride in themselves, hence the name Pridestalker. Pridestalkers adapted to low-light vision from hunting at night, and have received bonuses to Nature and Perception checks. Pridestalkers stay alone, or in pairs and are rarely seen in towns.-

A reclusive hunter stumbled upon a white lion cub with icy blue eyes during a hunting trip. He noticed that the animal's intelligence was high once the animal imitated the human hunter's walk. The hunter took the animal home to his small cabin and kept the cub. The hunter took the growing cub along with him on hunting trips, they brought back much more with his companion. The hunter attempted to teach the cub to use a bow as his hands grew to match his 2 legged stance, however, the lion ripped the string constantly. The lion was then trained to use a dagger and shortsword. The lion went out on his own hunting trips to bring back the largest prey he could to his master, this made him feel proud of himself, and made the master proud. Time went on and the hunter passes away, so the lion who calls himself the Pridestalker is now finding a home suitable for himself. In his travels, he notices a complete opposite of himself, a black furred, orange eyed female cub. He brings this cub into the den that he creates for himself, and raises her into one like him. These mate, and call their race the Pridestalkers, after the white one.

Pridestalker Adventurers[edit]

Three sample Pridestalker adventurers are described below.

There was once a Pridestalker that came out of a jungle bordering a small town. The lion-man asked if he could come in to settle down. The guards have been having problems with a cult worshiping a dragon, so they said if he slew the dragon and brought back proof, they would allow him a place to stay, free of charge. The Pridestalker left with only a Shorsword in his main-hand and a dagger in his off-hand. A few days passed and the Pridestalker came back, with new weapons and armor, made from the bones of the dragon, and he came with the entire skull of the dragon on his back.

Another was a story of a female who was seen hunting by other hunters from a small village out in the middle of Icewind Dale, hunters became frightened and told the town guard. The guards sent out a squad of 12 to go investigate the arctic forest, and they decided to attack, and not be diplomatic. all guards were killed except for one, that made it to the door, and fell forward with a Dagger sticking out from his back. He was able to be saved from a few clerics in the town and a couple of months of recovery.

The last story is of a Pridestalker that was one that was let into town by the mayor, and was given a job into the town guard. The town was raided by orcs, and many were killed. The Pridestalker was the one sent out with 4 other men, but he insisted on being alone. The Pridestalker single-handedly took out an entire band of orcs, that raided their town.
