Orcish Blood Warrior[edit]

In all the worlds where Orcs are known, they are feared for their ability to survive in hostile environments and to breed vast armies in a surprisingly short time. Orcish Blood Warriors are individuals who have found a way to tap into the strong life-force of the Orc race, to develop supernatural powers of recuperation and resistance to injury. Like the Orc hordes themselves, Blood Warriors have an uncanny ability to survive extinction and return to the fray. While Orcish Barbarians seek to overwhelm opponents with a powerful but unsustainable burst of fury, Blood Warriors seek to outlast opponents and harry them relentlessly, with an indomitable determination that is uncharacteristic of their normally weak-willed race. It is a common myth that slain Blood Warriors must be hacked to pieces to stop them rising again.

Typically, the process of becoming a Blood Warrior involves extensive ritual preparation and the drinking of at least a pint of Orcish blood from at least a dozen Orcs (the means of obtaining the blood is irrelevant, though in most cases it's donated voluntarily). Half-Orc blood is considered "impure" unless the donor is himself a Blood Warrior.

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Orcish Blood Warrior:

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Blood Warriors are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, and all types of armour and shield.

Rapid Recovery (Ex): The Blood Warrior recovers lost hit points when resting at twice the usual rate.

Damage Reduction (Ex): At 2nd level, a Blood Warrior gains Damage Reduction. Subtract 1 from the damage the Blood Warrior takes each time he is dealt damage from a weapon or a natural attack. This improves by 1 point every 2 levels thereafter, and stacks with similar damage-reduction from classes such as Barbarian.

Doubled Cures (Su): Curative spells and similar magical effects are twice as effective when used on Blood Warriors of 3rd level or higher, restoring twice the usual number of hitpoints (subject to the character's usual hitpoint maximum).

Rude Health (Su): At 3rd level, Blood Warriors become immune to poisons and disease.

Constitution Bonus (Ex): At 4th and 9th level, a Blood Warrior's Constitution increases by 1 point.

Champion of the Blood (Su): Those of Orcish blood (Orcs and Half-Orcs) can sense that the Blood Warrior has a commanding presence. The Blood Warrior gains a +1 bonus on Leadership rating and Intimidate checks at 4th level when dealing with those of Orcish blood. Furthermore, once per day the Blood Warrior can raise the morale of all allies of Orcish blood in a 60-foot radius (including himself) to give a +1 morale bonus on attack and damage rolls and saves versus charm and fear effects, for one round per Blood Warrior level: this works just like the Inspire Courage effect of Bardic music (and doesn't stack with it) except that it doesn't require sound. These bonuses increase to +2 at 8th level.

Fast Healing (Su): At 5th level, the Blood Warrior regains lost hitpoints at the rate of 1 point per round, and this increases to 2 at 10th level.

Bonus Feats: The Blood Warrior gains a bonus feat at 6th and 10th level, from the Fighter list (excluding Fighter-only feats such as Weapon Specialization and Greater Weapon Focus).

Indomitable (Ex): At 7th level, the Blood Warrior becomes immune to fear, stunning, and nonlethal damage. A 7th level Blood Warrior cannot be cowed, stunned or beaten into submission.

Tireless (Ex): At 7th level, the Blood Warrior becomes immune to normal fatigue, and is merely fatigued when normal characters would be exhausted.

Self-Restoration (Su): At 9th level, a Blood Warrior can reproduce the effect of a Greater Restoration upon himself only, once per day (at no experience cost), even if subsequent level drain has reduced the Blood Warrior's level below 9th.
