An operator is a soldier, or "handler", who remotely operates, and works in conjuction with, a robotic drone. This requires good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity and spatial awareness.

Appearance: An operator often has various tools strapped to his clothing for quick maintenance, an e-book or paper operations manual, and some kind of device for manually controlling his drone.

Operator Traits
Ability: Dexterity
Power Source: Fusion; +2 to Fusion overcharge.
Skill Bonus (Level 1): Gain a +4 bonus to Mechanics checks.
Well Co-ordinated (Level 1): You gain a +2 bonus to Reflex.
Drone (Level 1): You gain one of three drones; a Patrol Drone, Combat Drone or Turret. The drone is considered a creature and an ally and can be effected by powers. It acts on your turn as you direct it, using the options below. You take the action specified for a command, and the drone must be able to communicate with you. If you don't command your drone, it remains where it is, as long as you are conscious and present in the encounter. If you are unconscious or aren't present, your drone can act independently.
  • Attack (Standard Action): Your drone makes a basic attack against an enemy of your choice. Attacks that use ammunition do so from your ammunition supply.
    Defend (Standard Action): Your drone or both of you go on total defense. If you are adjacent to each other, the bonus to defenses is +3 rather than +2.
    Move (Move Action): Your drone or both of you take a move action. The move actions need not be the same.
    Opportunity Attack (Immediate Interrupt): When a creature provokes an opportunity attack from your drone, you spend an immediate interrupt to command the drone to make the attack.

In situations where you can't command your drone, it can act independently. A drone acting independently can take a standard action, a move action, and a minor action on each of its turns, as a character can. You choose the drone's actions, with one restriction: If your character is present in the encounter but incapable of commanding the drone, it must move as far as it can toward you each round on its turn, choosing the safest route possible. Once adjacent to you, the drone can act in any manner you wish.

  • Second Wind: When you use your second wind, your drone can use second wind as well.
    Death and Dying: A drone follows the same rules as a character for death and dying. If your drone dies, you gain a new one at your next extended rest.
Operator Critical (Level 2 or 6): When you score a critical hit, your drone may make a basic attack as a free action.


Drone Strike Operator Novice
You co-ordinate a strike against a target from both you and your drone.

Attack: Dexterity + your level vs. AC
Hit: 1[W] + your level physical damage.
Effect: Your drone makes a Melee or Ranged attack against the same target: Attack: Drone's attack bonus + level vs. AC; Hit: 1[D]* + level physical damage.

Special: If both you and your drone make attacks that use ammunition, this only counts as one attack for the purpose of ammunition consumption.

Drone Defense Operator Utility
Your robot pal responds to danger by locking in ablative armor plates and overdriving its motors.

Immediate Interrupt Close burst 20
Trigger: Your drone is hit by an attack within 20 squares of you.
Target: Your drone in burst
Effect: The target gains a +4 power bonus to the defense targeted by the attack.
Combat Drone: The defense bonus lasts until the start of your next turn.
Patrol Drone: The drone may also shift 1 square.
Turret:Your drone gains an aura 1 until the end of your next turn. Allies in the aura gain a +1 power bonus to AC.



Drone Assault Operator Expert
You work in unison with your drone to bring all arms to bear against your foes.

Standard Action Melee or Ranged weapon
Effect: Before the attack, your drone can shift its speed.
Target: One creature
Attack: Dexterity + your level vs. AC
Hit: 2[W] + your level + Dexterity modifier physical damage and you push the target 1 square and knock it prone.
Effect: Your drone makes a Melee or Ranged attack against the same target: Attack: Drone's attack bonus + level vs. AC; Hit: 2[D] + twice level physical damage.

Special: If both you and your drone make attacks that use ammunition, this only counts as one attack for the purpose of ammunition consumption.
