[edit] Quest Introduction

The story happens after the saga of Jerock the Necromancer who terrorized villages for his simple amusement. Before the end of that saga a group of adventurers got to the challenge of fighting him. Once the necromancer was almost defeated by a group of adventurers and at the moment he understood he wouldn't last a week, he quickly left the lair through the portal and closed it from the outside. Once outside and nearing the last days of his life, he wrote some simple necromancy rituals on stone tablets, including a trapped one; the one who casts it will leave his body and the strongest spirit in the area will be able to take his place in the body. After he finished the tablets, he placed them away from the portal, and sealed the portal's ruins. Before he died of pain, disconnected his soul from his body.

After a couple of years, a young boy named Lupan was bullied by a stronger boy. One day the young boy ran into the forest to get away and found a small entrance leading underground. He had heard of such a cave and he knew he was forbidden, yet he chose to go in anyway. Once he entered he found a writing that said "At this moment you stand a choice, Power or Death."

As the boy read the first spell, a zombie appeared behind him. He ran quickly outside and meet the bully right outside of the cave. The bully said "Why you leaving? lets go in where no one can hear you and come for help." Once he pulled Lupan into the cave the zombie started attacking the bigger boy and killed him, then disappeared. It was then that the boy understood that power was his choice, so he swore he will never come back to the village until he is powerful enough to kill them all.

Jerock wanted someone to learn necromancy and then he wanted to take his body, activate the portal and continue his quest for power.

Lupan -
Mentally crazy. Will never, EVER! trust any one. 28 years old , studying necromancy from The Tablets he found in a cave where he lived since he was 13. Eats human flesh to survive. His target is to get revenge on the village and kill all the people who made his younger years such hell.

Jerock -
A powerful necromancer.
An old spirit whos waiting for a body that could be used. So he can return to the world as a "human".

Rose -
Lupan's Mother met only once in the quest.

The Staff of The Necromancer
The staff that jerock used when he was still in the position of the necromancer.
Its could be given away at the end of the quest just to be destroyed or sold for (1d4x100) Gold. (Its can be added , a merchant who is willing to buy the staff and he tells you he will pay 100-400 gold if you bring it to him)

[edit] Stage One: The beggining

The cave

This quest is started once the group arrives in a new village. At the beginning The group gets in contact with a random villager who says his sister has gone missing after she went to the forest for an unknown reason. He says also that a lot of people disappear and the mayor offers a lot of money to the one who can find out what happens, and even more to one who can stop it , if they choose to go to the forest they get surrounded by about 10 zombies and after that, 20. The number rises untill they are forced to run into a cave where they meet a very scary-looking traveler, a defenseless weak person who tells them he was trapped in the cave for days and wants to get out. After they get out and go back to town, a necromancer's staff is getting stolen from the mage's guild at town and the traveler is gone.

He actually went back to the cave.

[edit] Stage Two: Explanations

The Village

Since that day the village gets attacked by more undead and this time they were much stronger (thanks to the staff of Jerock).

A very old woman is looking for the group when she finds them she tells them that the saved traveler is her son Lupan, and he was missing for the last 15 years and since he was gone people started disappearing too. The old woman is also one of the higher ranked mages in the mage guild and she explains that the staff that Lupan stole was actually the elder necromancer's wand and it was extremely powerful and it has to be destroyed (or can be sold of alot of money). The PCs might find more about the background story from people around the village.

If they choose to go after Lupan the battle stage of the quest begins.

When Lupan got back to the cave he first guarded him self from interruption then tried the ritual , he couldn't perfect it but he summoned the soul of Jerock. Jerock told him that he can perfect it with the equipment in his lair. he told him how to activate the portal and they both went in , Jerock told him that some one is disturbing the woods and he should make some more defense force so he told him to relive the bodies he has at his lair ( bodies of the adventurers who almost killed Jerock)

As they arrive at the cave it is guarded by two big looking fully armored guards.

Armored Undead

Set the stats that go best with the teams that plays this.

Once they are defeated the group can go inside they see the save old cave but there is another room with floating rocks that look like they were made to be a full circle and a portal in between them and a skeleton right next to it (Jerocks original body). But the portal isn’t activated the cave is filled with writing on the wall and some of the places the tablets with the text on them are off the wall so in order to activate the portal they need to put the right tablets in the right spots.

When they go to the portal they get strongly sucked it and arrive at a place that has a sort of an egg shape that had 3 round floors and a big hall that goes thru them all and they see a ritual sing at the bottom of the main hall and 3 weird looking zombies stand up from 3 circles in the symbol while Lupan is in the middle in a strange red/black robe and the necromancer's staff in his hand.

Lupan summons the old spirits of the warriors who defeated him and controlled they’re bodies.

(that’s what I am using for my group and i hope you understand you’ll have to change that if you use it)

While he performs the Soul Rip ritual. At this moment Jerock believes the undead will defeat the adventurers.

After the undead adventurers are defeated the group hears a voice from all around them that says the time has all most come and once the ritual is complete and if they try to stop the ritual they of cause stop it and then lupan unleashes his wrath at them.

After Lupan is dead the lair is starting to fall down. Jerock's staff suddenly rises in air by it self and pushes the group out side to the portal. (the staff is possessed by thousands of souls and all of them have power to push people around) After/If the group decides to go back to the village Lupan's mother fastly catches them and ask if they destroyed the staff

Ways to ends the quest:
1. Destroy the staff and tell that to Rose.
2. Keep the staff and tell Rose you destroyed it.
