Mystic Theurge Melee (3.5e Optimized Character Build)

Introduction

The idea behind this build is to create a character that is capable in melee combat and is also a high level caster of both Arcane and Divine Spells. Naturally this character will rely heavily on her magical abilities to bolster melee effectiveness. It is easy for this build to suffer severely from MAD. The listed progression will try to limit this problem, however if your character has sufficiently high attributes them there are suggestions listed in the Munchkin section.

This build pulls from several official WOTC books as well as Journey to Castle Ravenloft (adventure), Unearthed Arcana, Dragon Magazine, and the Dragonlance Campaign Setting.

Game Rule Components

Items

Eventually you will need an item that gives you Trackless Step. Or you could use a Wish/Miracle spell to get it.

Items that increase your number of uses with Turn Undead are also very good.

- Reliquary Holy Symbol

- Nightstick

+1 Twilight Mithral Chain Shirt will give you some armor to cast in.

Starting Ability Scores (Before Racial Adjustments): Your stats should be in the following priority: Cha > Con > Str > Int > Dex > Wis

Race (Templates): Human (Magic-Blooded Draconic) (buy off the +1 LA as soon as possible).
