Mordekai[edit]

Personality[edit]

Mordekai are no for being pretty mellow and passive when just dealt with BY THEMSELVES. As a group, they tend not to have a lot of pride and they take insults lightly. However, due to their habit of latching unto other cultures and parroting their neighbors, they will get insulted just as they do. For example, if a pack of Mordekai move next to a clan of Dwarves, they will do their best to co-exist and even integrate Dwarven culture amongst themselves. And if the Dwarves start preparing to go to war, the Mordekai will follow suit.

Now, despite their parroting of neighboring cultures, Mordekai culture exists in and of itself. First, Mordekai always have martial artists amongst themselves and spell casters. Never just one. They may tend to favor one over the other if their neighbors do, but not a lot. They usually pick Fighters for martial artists and Wizards for spell casters, but Barbarians, Monk, Clerics and Psionics are possible too. Traditionally, women are the spell casters and men are the martial artists. Their are exceptions, but Mordekai are simply mellow to care.

A final cultural note is that Mordekai are polygamous. Men can have many wives and women many husbands. They can make a large family unit with marriages alone. A Mordekai call their spouses's other spouses 'marriage siblings.' A man calls his wives's husbands 'marriage brothers' and a woman calls her husbands's wives 'marriage sisters.'

Half-Mordekai are alot different. Like full blooded Mordekai, they are of few words, speaking only what they have something thoughtful to say. Unlike full Mordekai, they are very serious, prone to brooding and bouts of depression even. Full blooded Mordekai tend to scare people by sneaking up on them by accident, where a Half-Mordekai does the same thing but on purpose. A Half-Mordekai that lives with his Mordekai kin tend to mellow out while those who live amongst Humans end up being loners by choice, watching people from the back ground.

Note; this applies only to Mordekai-Human hybrids. Mordekai can breed with many others and the offspring's behavior almost always ends up being a sharp contrast to their parent's.

Physical Description[edit]

Relations[edit]

Classes[edit]

All Mordekai excel at being Rogues, while men excel at being Fighters, Monks and Barbarians and women do well as Wizards, Sorcerers and Psionics. It isn't impossible to see them as Clerics or Bards either, but they need a special calling to that. Half-Mordekai are almost always Rogues but their is a high percentage of them being Bards too then their is in full Mordekai.

Their is one class available only to full-blooded Mordekai, the Riders. Being a Rider is actually a two person class, a male martial artists and a female spellcaster. The woman would ride on the back of the man, healing, blasting and generally other spell castings stuff while the male stabbed or punched things. The men must be able to run encumbered for long distances while the women must be able to quickly spell cast in the middle of a melee. The Riders are the primary militia of a tribe of Mordekai and are highly respected.

Alignment[edit]

It's not impossible to find an evil Mordekai, but they are so mellow that they tend to be Neutral with a leaning towards Good. On the other hand, Half-Mordekai have a larger tendency to be evil then even their Human kin.

Lands[edit]

Religion[edit]

Mordekai tend to adopt local religions but they have their own gods as well. The first is Mordekainen, God of the Super Natural Arts, and his consort Fin Duilas, Goddess of the Martial Arts. Strangely, it is the women who primarily worship Mordekainen even when he is venerated by all Mordekai as their creator. The men worship Fin for strength. The only feamle Mordekai who give worship to Fin are the Riders. Mordekainen is said to be a Human who modeled the Mordekai partly after Fin, who was half-Elf and half-Giant.

Language[edit]

Mordekai speak Common, Mordrin and the language of the locals. Mordrin is mostly hisses and sigh.
