The moon elves were touched by the ethereal essence of Selene after being stranded away from their Feywild home. They have thus grown apart from their origin as elves, though they retain their fey blood. Their forms have been augmented by the power of the moon. Aligned with the good side of the moon gods, moon elves seek to hunt evil lycanthropes. They are known to shine the moon's light as an "eye" of sorts which rains judgment down on creatures like werewolves. It is theorized they were changed to perform such duties to protect the serenity of nature.

Play a Moon Elf if you want...

  • To be more enigmatic than the common elf.
  • To be able to glow in the dark.
  • To blast enemies with moonlight.
  • To be a member of a race that favors the Ranger, Seeker, Monk and Druid classes.

Physical Qualities[edit]

Moon elves look like if an elf was carved of marble, with white skin that has nearly bluish or lavender undertones. Their eyes are pale and milky white, with no iris or pupils visible. Their hair is often as pale as their skin, ranging from silver to white or a mix of colors to reflect the nighttime galactic nebulas. They retain their lithe build and pointed ears from their elven heritage. There are rumored scars on their bodies that resemble the craters of the moon.

Like eladrin, moon elves are highly pretentious in dress and figure themselves as nobility. Colors of the night like blue and purple attract them best, as well as metals like silver or gold. Their clothing tends to exhibit a bit more around the arms and midriff, which also allows for ease of movement. Rather than wear clothing simply for looks, they prefer it to be as practical as can be as well, so fashionable armor is a go-to for them.

Attitudes and Beliefs[edit]

Moon elves see themselves as more engaged members of the world than regular elves or eladrin. They are devoted to combating the forces of evil lycanthropes in the world, and protecting the pristine nature of the natural world. To them, this often does not come with any moral problems. A person who becomes a werewolf, as far as they are concerned, is already dead. Killing the wolf does not do anything to the already-dead person. If anything, it is more honorable for someone to die than become a raving beast. That being said, they are rather lawful, and therefore tolerate allies that are sane lycanthropes, like the lythari.

Evil moon elves, however, are not uncommon. These individuals tend to look towards Shar and wreak havoc upon elven encampments under the cover of night.

Moon Elf Communities[edit]

Their appearance is often seen as beautiful but cold. As such, other humanoid civilizations may find them unapproachable. In their own small villages, they live with dedication to the goddess Selune as well as Ehlonna and a small smattering of other gods. These villages were once connected to the Gates of the Moon, Selune's heavenly realm. They are located at dark corners of woodlands, where they hone their skills. Their villages are tribal in family structure, resulting in a tight-knit community.

Moon Elf Adventurers[edit]

Three sample Moon Elf adventurers are described below.

Ranger: Beiro is a Moon Elf ranger. One day he decided to head out into the forest out of curiosity. He found himself out longer then he thought and by the time he got back to his tribe's grove they had left. He had searched the whole forest but couldn't find even any tracks. He eventually met a party of adventurers who had set out to explore jungles and forests in an attempt to whipe out a witch-doctor cult. Now he scouts and leads the party safely through some of the most overgrown parts of woodland that no man had been through before.

Monk: Lia is a Moon Elf centered breath monk. She was found on the doorstep of a monastery and raised by other monks. Despite the hard discipline she was taunted by the other youth for her differences. Soon the taunting got too much for her to handle and she found herself leaving the only way of life she knew. Along the road she came across an adventuring party who was seeking scrolls of wisdom and she felt a calling. The party had a drow seeking redemption, and Lia found it hard to not resort to the cruleities she suffered at the monastery. After the drow sacrificed itself for Lia she found the enlightenment she never got back at the monastery.

Seeker: Varis is a Moon Elf seeker who was given an order by the Seelie Queen to go scout a world that the Feywild for some reason could't establish a lasting link to. In that planeVaris missed fey kind but found solace in an adventuring party. He now calls upon the primal spirits to lead him and the party to greatness.

Roleplaying a Moon Elf[edit]

When creating a moon elf adventurer, here are a few points to consider.

One of the Tribe Moon Elf characteristics vary from tribe to tribe; from quiet and organized to a little more rambunctious. One thing is common however-on the hunt all Moon Elves are quiet team players with the goal taking priority only after companionship. To earn a Moon Elf's trust is to have a bow at your back ready to fight along side you.

Creatures of Night Moon Elves are just as respectful of the natural world as their Elven kin. Since most Moon Elves sleep during the day and don't get to revere in many beauties of the forest. There are, however, just as many beautiful sights at night.

Into the Forest During the day a Moon Elf tribe would retire to their encampment, which would be found in the darkest region of the woodland. Their settlements are built to be packed up and moved quickly but a tribe could stay secluded somewhere for decades.

Moon Elf Characteristics: Agile, Enigmatic, Loyal, respectful, Stealthy, Tempestuous.
