Monsters[edit]

Monsters in Oredell vary from the norm to very different depending on the creature.

Angels - The servants of the gods, angels are extremely rare as the majority fell and became greater devils during the rending. The ones that remain are all a part of the maintaining of the Overworld, and the halting of it's collapse.

Beholders - Beholders are powerful beings who have gone almost extinct. The ones who are among society are slain by the lord that they eventually decide to oppose. This has left an extreme shortage of beholders in the world of Oredell.

Drider - The drow who lived in the underdark are mostly drider now, due to the death throes of Lolth, because of the Rending.

Demons - Demons are usually totally nondescript when summoned, but will grow in power and change as they are fed the souls of the living. As they get more powerful they tend to start looking for ways to break their pact and cause the death of their masters. The Demonlords do not exist as they were all slain by the devils that all demons now serve.

Devils - Devils are extremely rare, the lesser ones not existing at all anymore. The remaining ones are all the servants of the 5 Archdukes that form Jurresh'Keel's council, and those that oppose are slain or demoted. The devils hold power over the demons and force them to fight for them in the material plane.

Dragons - Ancient History holds no knowledge of dragons, for they did not exist in the past. Dragons were made by ancient mages in the attempt to stop the wars that were going on around them all. Special devices known as Slayers were created to create, control, and if they had to, slay the dragons they created. A person would be embedded with a special shard full of powerful magic, and extremely powerful polymorphing magic. The crystal would enter the body and turn the person into a dragonlord. They would sprout horns and claws, and as they grew in power they would slowly change into a dragon wyrmling over the course of 4 weeks. As a wyrmling feasts upon flesh they grow in power and will grow, eventually becoming an ancient dragon and gaining extreme power.

A slayer creator will cause a humanoid to slowly change into a wyrmling. Once changed they can switch to a humanoid form, usually preferring their old form.. The crystal consumes their person and leaves behind none of the moral or understanding. The person's color/type depends upon their personality before being changed... Many of the dragons created were sealed away because they were very dangerous and people realized they were very hard to control.

Gargoyle - Gargoyles are very common in Oredell due to the grim areas and the fact that they supposedly protect from evil, which is bountiful in Oredell.

Griffin - Griffins, and all the other forms of them (Gryphowl, Gryphhound, Demigryph, etc), are common to the nobility of Pohl, but rare everywhere else.

Kraken - They are all Extinct.

Mermaids - They are mostly good, but the merrow serve the lord Ak'Vannezh the Devourer, pillaging the shores of the world.

Sphinxes - They are the abandoned servants of the dead gods, and will often guard powerful artifacts that should not be taken lightly... Artifacts known as the God Eaters (why does that sound familiar?)

Tarrasque - The tarrasque has been sealed away by the imprisonment spell, and sleeps under the earth in the kingdom of Pohl. (think godzilla but stuck underneath your feet... Cool right!?)

Zombies - They are one of the most common monsters you will find in Oredell thanks to Ikasis the Darkness.

Reapers - All the Reapers in Oredell have been hunted by Ikasis the Darkness or have fled through the broken Ethereal plane never to return.
