[edit] Dogma
Mithras is an absolutist dualist, believing in absolute right and wrong, but failing to recognize any shades of gray. Sacrifices of bulls are made to him. Only men are allowed to join the cult of Mithras, but his teaching that those who win battles are divinely favored has made him a popular deity among soldiers.
[edit] Clergy and Temples
Mithras' followers perform services in caves. The clergy advance in rank with experience from mystes to corax, then to cryphius, then miles, followed by leo, Perses, heliodromos, and pater.
Another listing of the rankings is:
- Corax (raven)
- Nymphus (bridegroom)
- Miles (soldier)
- Leo (lion)
- Perses (Persian)
- Heliodromus (sun-courier)
- Pater (father)
