More information...

Mateu was a Sorcerous Scholar gifted in evocation, the school of magical energies. In life he used his gift to stop spellcasters that would use their gifts to gain an advantage over those without magic. Eventually he settled down and began research into greater arcane knowledge. He eventually discovered a new way to bend energy to create more advanced forms of elementals. When his research was complete he devised a spell to summon one of these elementals. After channeling raw arcane energy for 3 days without food, drink, or sleep Mateu began to have visions of the arcane energy flowing around him. He saw that, while he could create the elementals he was attempting to summon, if the magic were shaped slightly they would be even more advanced then he could dream of. The result were the Wisplings, creatures of pure solidified energy. Amazed by the new intelligent beings he had created, Mateu soon realized that their wellbeing and survival in this world was his responsibility. He sought out a hidden patch of forest and after making a deal with the Druids of the area, the first of the Wispling villages were made. The Wisplings loved the primal nature of the forest and so instead of cutting down trees as the Druids had feared, they used a strange magic that whose power came from all the Wisplings. They grew and shaped the branches of the trees into houses. This magic became known as the Homegrowth Ritual and earned the respect and friendship of many Druids. Mateu continued to care for his creations and watched two generations born before dying of old age. When he died Boccob granted him a divine spark so that Mateu could continue to watch over his creations.

Dogma[edit]

Mateu will not tolerate any that threaten the Wisplings and has on a few occasions stopped similar rituals that would create intelligent life if said rituals were done in a way the new beings would suffer or be enslaved by their creator.

Clergy and Temples[edit]

Most of his followers are Wisplings who call him Creator or Life Spark. When he does make contact with the Wisplings he doesn't treat them as mere mortals but more like friends and family. Outside of the Wisplings few follow him save but some druids or clerics who have an affinity for the elements. While he doesn't have a temple his laboratory and library are considered holy ground and he has a shrine in every village. He is often depicted with Eidom and Aeva, the first Wisplings to have a child, who have become his messengers in the afterlife. His holy symbol is the magic circle used to create the Wisplings. Even though the exact fluctuations that caused the Wisplings to come into being will never be repeated, if the symbol is used as a divine or arcane focus for summoning elementals then Advanced Elementals of a similar type can be substituted.
