Masamune (4e Equipment)

From D&D Wiki

Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: This is one step too powerful for a superior weapon. Either the proficiency bonus needs to go down to +2, or the damage to 1d8, or it needs to loose either high crit. or reach; Or scrap it and just call it a fullblade.

You can help D&D Wiki by better balancing the mechanics of this page. When the mechanics have been changed so that this template is no longer applicable please remove this template. If you do not understand balance please leave comments on this page's talk page before making any edits.

[edit] Masamune

[edit] Superior Melee Weapons

Two-Handed

Weapon Prof. Damage Range Price Weight Group Properties
Masamune +3 1d10 40 gp 10 lb. Heavy Blade High Crit, Reach

The masamune is a very long nodachi ("field sword"), some six feet in length.

High Crit

Masamune deals more damage when you score a critical hit with it. On a critical hit, the weapon deals l[W] extra damage at 1st-10th levels, 2[W] extra damage at 11th-20th levels, and 3[W] extra damage at 21st-30th levels. This extra damage is in addition to any critical damage masamune supplies if it is a magic weapon.

Reach

Masamune is a reach weapon. You can make melee attacks against enemies that are 2 squares away from you as well as against adjacent enemies. Even so, you can make opportunity attacks only against enemies adjacent to you and can flank only enemies adjacent to you.
