Main Gauche [General, Fighter]

Defend with an off-hand weapon

Two-Weapon Fighting

If you are using a light off-hand weapon, or even holding a buckler, hat or rolled up cloak in your off hand, you can use your off-hand weapon to defend. It also works with a double weapon. You must make a full-round attack, and you are giving up all off-hand attacks for the round. This gives you a +4 bonus to Armor Class and a -2 penalty to attack.

If you use a buckler this way, you do not get its normal armor bonus.

Main Gauche means simply 'left hand', but it is often applied to a left-hand parrying dagger and the fighting style that goes with it. The forerunner of modern fencing, it uses an off hand weapon to deflect attacks, but not to attack with. This feat represent the very earliest fencing styles, and is appropriate for an early renaissance campaign.
