Magic and Magic Items (City-States In Chaos Supplement)
From D&D Wiki
Unique Source of Magic
Arcane magic is the after effect of the Major Gods’ act of creation. There is an invisible-divine-elemental power throughout the physical plane. This power is the refracted prism rainbow color-scheme of white, black, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. Therefore, color is important to spell casters. At the inner core of a spell caster’s implement (wand, orb, staff, sword, etc.) is a prism.
A spell caster/wizard uses, applies, and manipulated the prism-rainbow-spectrum connected to a Major God. A spell caster must choose a Major God as its underlying source of power and therefore have two primary color aspects that can be reflected in color of their fashion, favorite colors, and color of their magical affects.
Each Major God has a color scheme:
The Wind has blue and violet
The Stone has white and black
The Water has yellow and green
The Fire has red and orange
Before the war, magic items were more available as a market item in the major cities (most items of level 1 through 5). Now, the availability of magic items is rare. There are no magic item stores or merchants (only 1st level items are available, when a magic item can be found to buy).
All magic items above 5th level are artifacts and cannot have their magic moved to another item. Each item has a history defined by a name and the race of its creator such as Thoadin the dwarven mace.
