Karkinos[edit]

Karkinos are huge crabfolk which have existed underwater for seemingly as long as the oceans themselves have been around. Within the past few decades, some of these crustaceans have adventured onto land to find their destiny there. Karkinos are natural fighters and excell at frightening their enemies. Those on land are often employed by towns as guards or soldiers.

Physical Description[edit]

The Karkinos are large and bulky humanoid crustaceans with thick outer shells similar to the much smaller non-man crab. They possess large powerful claws with high splitting power. Under these, they have a smaller pair of claws that are used for grooming and other more delicate actions such as writing or eating.

History[edit]

Karkinos have roamed the ocean floor for centuries, but most of their history is unknown. Recently, a few Karkinos have made the journey onto land. What little is known about Karkinos history has been learned from these land-dwelling crabs.

Society[edit]

Karkinos live mostly solitary lives underwater. This is also usually the case when on land, as most other races ostracize Karkinos. Karkinos face racism and fear from other races and many establishments. Some Karkinos are hired as bodyguards for nobles or as city watchmen. Several Karkinos have become infamous prison interrogators, an occupation that suits them due to their mildly terrifying appearance.

Karkinos Names[edit]

Karkinos usually have short names with hard consonants. Male and female Karkinos may have the same names, as there are no difference in naming the two genders.
