[edit] Jedi Dualist
| “ | "Yeah, I know Yan Gregor. He's the one who stopped a Gamorrean Pirate Raid on a Republic Medical Vessel with nothing but that laser sword of his... Then he brought his crewmen back from the brink of death by simply touching them!" | ” |
| —Sindik, Bothan New Republic Trooper | ||
Everywhere from the farthest reaches of space to the dungeon just a few hours walk from your local tavern, the Force exists. It permeates all things, and not one single philosophy has yet unravelled every mystery it might hold. The Jedi Dualist, having walked different paths, believes it is he who has found the answer to the Great Mystery of the Force. He takes what he can from each of his points of interest, combining them into what you see before you. Perhaps he is a Lightsaber brandishing master of Force Lightning. Or perhaps she is the Healer who can fell an Ogre as quickly with her fists as her blaster. Whatever they are, you will never forget the first time you meet one.
[edit] Becoming a Jedi Dualist
Most Jedi Dualists are Jedi Knights with at least 5 levels in another Force Using class, such as the Jedi Healer. However, any Force Using Class qualifies, such as the Kirai Monk.

[edit] Campaign Information
[edit] Playing a Jedi Dualist
Playing A Jedi Dualist presents an interesting Roleplaying Opportunity to players. How does one balance the Inherent desire for Quiet Contemplation as a Kirai Monk while wielding the combat prowess of a Jedi Battlemaster? Depending on your classes and alignment, you could be a Gentle Healer Monk, or a Saberthrowing Jedi Sentinel.
Combat: A Jedi Dualist can be a healer, a striker, a defender, or an Artillery Specialist, depending on your Class Combination.
Advancement: Like the Mystic Theurge or Eldritch Disciple, most Players prefer to multi-class TO this class, not away from it. However, when a Jedi Dualist completes his ten levels of advancement, he usually chooses to return to his previous classes to finish off their abilities.
Resources: Jedi Dualists tend to shy away from one another in everday life. However, if assigned as partners by the Jedi Council, they forge lasting bonds with one another through trading knowledge of the Force and it's mysteries.
[edit] Jedi Dualists in the World
Jedi Dualists are constantly searching for The Great Truth of the Force. When not on assignment (Or on leave from their Jedi Duties) A Dualist is out exploring the galaxy, digging through ancient Jedi Cities on Dantooine and Dilapidated Sith Ruins on Korriban. Or, in the case of a Normal Campaign Setting, simply searching through ancient ruins that depict something about the history of the Faerunian/Eberronian Jedi.
| “ | Stay behind me. I'll take care of these Sith Yuan-Ti. Then I'll take a look at that nasty cut you've got there. | ” |
Jedi Dualists do not conform to any set role or function in any Campaign Setting. Some are warriors working for a Monarchy. Others are Healers scouring the land for Evil. Still others are crafty diplomats with a lightsaber up their sleeves.
NPC Reactions: Most NPC's will react to a Dualist the same way they react to any Force User.
[edit] Jedi Dualist Lore
Characters with ranks in Knowledge (Religion) can research Jedi Dualists to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.
| DC | Result |
|---|---|
| 11 | A Jedi Dualist uses the Force in a variety of Ways. |
| 16 | Jedi Dualists are secretive about what they have discovered when dealing with non-Dualists. |
| 21 | A Jedi Dualist is a Master of two different types of Force Abilities |
| 26 | A Player who makes a Check with this result or higher may request information about a specific Dualist.. |
[edit] Jedi Dualists in the Game
A Jedi Dualist can fit a number of roles in an Adventuring Party. Healer, Front Line Warrior, Stealthy Assassin, and more. As an NPC, a Dualist could easily fill any Jedi Role you need.
'Adaptation: To adapt Jedi Dualists (And Jedi In general) To your game, it would be easiest to imagine them as alternate Monks or Paladins. Perhaps an ancient order devoted to defending the world from Extraplanar Entities?
Sample Encounter: Yan Gregor, Human Kirai Monk 5/Jedi Healer 5/Jedi Dualist 3
EL 13: The Party comes across a town besieged by Ogres, and there seems to be a single man holding them off in front of the Town's Temple to (Insert God Here). His blade seems to be made of pure energy, but Detect Magic doesn't show any sort of magical Activity.
