Ikuisuus[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

The ikuisuus are humanoids with large frames. They weight on the heavier spectrum, compared to humans. Usually, they have dark or gray hair that sprouts most often for males on the solar plexus and chest cavity area, as well as the head, elbows and behind the knees. Their eyes are shades of gray and blue, some being even black. Some remark they look like gemstones. Their skin is usually a hue of grey that gets lighter as they age. They have pointed ears, like elves, but many remark they are not in the least handsome or beautiful. This is because their faces are usually gruff looking and tough. They have heavy brows that protrude, broad jaws, thick chins and noses, and virtually no lips. Additionally, there is no sexual dimorphism in the race, so females look this way as males do.

History[edit]

Ikuisuus are supposedly ape creatures that were influenced by energy from fey in their evolution, thus making them diverge from apes that became humans. Their odd appearance has caused them some grief in their history interacting with humans, who treated the ikuisuus like inferior monsters. They were additionally shunned by elves, who saw ikuisuus as creatures which were born by mistake. According to legend, the ikuisuus made many migrations in large groups across the land, searching for a haven from discrimination; a place to call home. They came upon an odd ripple in space that, when they approached, gave them a vision with an unknown deity in a field of wheat. The deity gave a message and a sign: their home was not of this world. They needed to attain hearts and forms passable to their homeworld, where they would be free to live in peace forever. However, so long as they remained tethered by this world, they would forever have to roam. When the vision ended, the ikuisuus found themselves where they had stood, still on the road, hungry and cold. However, they took this new stride towards the world, in defiance of its rejection of them.

Society[edit]

Ikuisuus believe themselves to be a race cursed to wander in seclusion. They are the lamb which mustn't lie with the lion. Their lifestyles are adapted to be completely nomadic and very quick to move. Ikuisuus exist in mainly four groups around the world. Each has their own chieftain and his harem, along with soldiers and workers, servants and hunter-gatherers. Ikuisuus believe in hard work ethic, as well as pleasure. They have a bleak vision of the world but value the spirit to persevere against adversity.

Religion[edit]

The ikuisuus are monotheistic and follow a deity they call "Light in the Field." This is the supposed figure from the legendary vision that gave ikuisuus insight into their place in the universe. Following the prophetic words of the Light, the ikuisuus believe this world to be wholly transitionary. They are meant to return to their true home once their race has proven itself worthy. Their current forms are imperfect and tethered to prejudice. Upon reaching their enlightenment, they believe the way to the home will be opened. There, they will no longer fear for their lives. There are differing interpretations of achieving this, like through good deeds, asceticism, or other methods.
