Truly vast crustaceans, hammerclaw crabs have vast claws that they use to hunt almost anything, from whales to ships, tearing them to pieces and devouring what they can, before scurrying off. They sometimes attack coastal settlements, especially if they feel that they are intruding on their territory or if ships are getting too close to their nests. Few ships sail when hammerclaw crabs breed, as a mother hammerclaw crab is extremely protective of her young, attacking anything without warning that draws too near for her liking.
