The gugs are over 20 feet tall, covered in black fur and have a large vertical mouth. Their big paws are equipped with large claws and have four arms. They live in the underground of the dream world, near the realm of Kadath, where they prey mainly on ghasts and ghouls.
They were banished to the underground by the Great Old Ones due to an unnamable blasphemy they had committed.
