Every thought of the great wonders of ranged thrown weaponry? Always felt out done and out classed by rangers, and OBI's? Well not any more! Not only is there the amazing master thrower, but there is also, for your enjoyment, hulking hurler! plus exotic weaponry! Oh the fun we'll have! Interested, read on!

Gargantuan spiked bolas.


Starting Ability Scores (Before Racial Adjustments): Str 18 (keep this really high), Int 14, Dex 13 or higher, the rest don't really matter (Isn't that wonderful, a good build not suffering from MAD!)

Race (Templates): Goliath, and only Goliath

Starting Racial Traits: +4 Str, -2 Dex, +2 Con, POWERFUL BUILD, and other Goliath Traits.

Other Components[edit]

thrown weapons are really fun! So are tricks! Who says the only one in their party who should know tricks is the animal companion, Look how great they are. Its glorious. An option to this build that I thought of is only three levels Master thrower, and 6 levels ranger, combat style archery to boost ranged feats, and skills.


The fact that your a medium character using gargantuan weapons at only a +1 level adjustment I think is an accomplishment on its own. The trick levels make your ranged combat very deadly.

Side Notes[edit]

Watch your skills, and remember, some of them only need to go up a few ranks to qualify you for the prestige classes, and you don't get many skill points, so don't worry so much about maxing everything out.


This build only works if you have Goliaths in your campaign. Although half giants also have powerful build and the psionics ranged feats may be good.

DM Counters[edit]

spell casters, and tanks. Try making some characters specifically designed for AC and HP, and then putting spellcasters in the background. The good Spells are sure to have a farther range than this guys Spiked Bolas.
