Futakuchi-Hito[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

Futakuchi-Hito generally look like humans native to Shou, with jet black hair, and yellowish-bronze skin. However, hidden behind their hair is a second, very ravenous mouth. The mouth at the front of their head can only be used to speak with. Both the men (Futakuchi-Otoko) and the women (Futakuchi-Onna) have very long hair.

History[edit]

Stories tell of how a human can become a Futakuchi-Hito. They all only appear in one part of the world, and the majority of them form when a human is married to a miser, and is forced to go with as little food as possible. In response, they transform, growing a second mouth on the back of their head, and their hair becoming prehensile so the second mouth can feed itself.

Society[edit]

Futakuchi-Hito do not have much in the way of a society, though small communities of them can arise when poverty becomes rampant, as they can turn to each other for support.

Futakuchi-Hito Names[edit]

Futakuchi-Hito were once human, or are descended from those who were once human, and still use human names.

Alternate Futakuchi-Hito[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

If you prefer your monster people to be more than just "humans with X feature," here is an alternate appearance for the Futakuchi-Hito, with alternative lore below as well. Futakuchi-Hito have smooth two-color skin, in dark cool tones and a much paler section on the front of their body covering part of their face. Futakuchi-Hito tend to have lots of variance in skin color and patterns. They only have one mouth, and no nose, on the back of their head. Instead of hair, they have numerous long, prehensile tentacles that grow back when cut. Many Futakuchi-Hito learn illusion magic to disguise as humans, and when their illusion fails they appear to have two mouths, thus how they got their name.

History[edit]

Futakuchi-Hito are descended from humans with aberration blood mixed in their genes. Many assume that they are descended from the cross-breeds of human and illithid, but some suspect that the source of aberration blood was a much greater power. A long time ago, they used to have a great civilization, but as other civilizations cropped up, the Futakuchi-Hito slowly found their sole city to be choked out. Their governments and their people turned on each other out of fear of diminishing resources, compounded by the fact that they eat twice as much as a normal human, and slowly their civilization became a sparsely populated ruins, full of scavengers and scoundrels.

Society[edit]

Futakuchi-Hito only live in one small part of the world, as a dying race with a failing civilization. Many have begun to search past the boundaries of their civilization for sources of food, so they put their natural proficiency in magic to good use; learning illusion spells or making magical equipment to disguise as humans and infiltrate their much richer society.
