Shapechanger. The fingertip stalker can use its action to polymorph into a Small or Medium humanoid, or back into its true form. Its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.

Magic Resistance. The fingertip stalker has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Regeneration. The fingertip stalker regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn. If the fingertip stalker takes radiant damage or damage from a wooden weapon, this trait doesn't function at the start of the fingertip stalker's next turn. The fingertip stalker dies only if it starts its turn with 0 hit points and doesn't regenerate.

Suffocating Gaze. When a creature that can see the fingertip stalker's eyes starts its turn within 30 feet of the fingertip stalker, the fingertip stalker can force it to make a DC 12 Charisma saving throw if the fingertip stalker isn't incapacitated and can see the creature. On a failed save, the creature begins suffocating. An affected creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. The effect also ends when the fingertip stalker dies.
Unless surprised, a creature can avert its eyes to avoid the saving throw at the start of its turn. If the creature does so, it can't see the fingertip stalker until the start of its next turn, when it can avert its eyes again. If the creature looks at the fingertip stalker in the meantime, it must immediately make the save.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The fingertip stalker makes two attacks with its fists.

Fist. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a Medium or smaller creature, it is grappled (escape DC 14). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the fingertip stalker can't grapple another target.

The figure beckoned, and the farmer followed, curious. He couldn't see the person's face, but they seemed to be agitated—clearly, something was wrong. After a few minutes trek through the woods, they came to a cave mouth. The figure beckoned once again, then stepped inside. The farmer frowned. It was odd the hooded figure hadn't once spoken—but then, it wasn't unknown for someone to have a tongue cut out—and that didn't mean that a man shouldn't still be entitled to aid when in need. He followed, into the cave.

"Look, what's the problem?" he asked "Is there someone in here who needs help—injured, like?"
The figure didn't answer. The farmer felt a twinge of unease. Suddenly the hooded stranger began to shake. The farmer looked on in horror as what was now clearly not a human twisted and thrashed, its fingers lengthening down to the ground, and then further. Its skin was alabaster white, and as its robe fell away and it turned, he gasped as he saw its face—or tried to. The breath stuck in his throat as he gazed into that face, the inky dots that served as eyes somehow trapping his eyes. He couldn't look away.
The creature pressed its gangly fingertips to the floor, and still they grew, until the creature's bulk was lifted bodily from the floor, like some huge white spider.
