Fae Born[edit]

The Fae like nature are ever changing and ever dangerous, never underestimate any Fae even if they are merely a descendant, like I.
—Melkorintus Nelimaphesta, Fae Born king of the east.

Physical Description[edit]

Fae born resemble something like humans at a glance. However, their bodies have telltale fey touches. For example, their ears are typically pointed like that of an elf or pixie's. Their figures are also very graceful like that of quicklings and fairies. Notably, their teeth show elongated canines, like that of a feline. If one looks closely, their eyes sometimes seem a bit too big, or their sclerae lack as much visibility due to an enlarged iris and pupil.

History[edit]

The fae born are believed to be humans who had been exposed to the Feywild at a young age. Supposedly, it is the fate of many who are kidnapped as newborns by malicious fey and replaced with a changeling. The energies of the chaotic plane of fey change the human baby into something other, a fae born. They often grow up with fey before traveling to the natural world as many do. Due to their upbringing and nature, they are not truly either fey nor human at this point. Many consider them abominations with a seeming skin. Fae born have thus learned to keep their natures secret. Those who do not face persecution.

Society[edit]

Fae born make their living in mixed elven or human societies for the most part. They make excellent thieves, scouts and spies for both legal and illicit dealings. Due to a tendency for chaos, it is usually the latter. There are some communities of fae born, all scattered about the elven forests. They tend to stay away from bestial habitats and towards places of quiet. In these small communities, they act as though they are royalty ruling their own kingdom. This sandcastle often is crushed by reality when they are caught in territorial disputes, and then they are forced to move. Fey see them as second-class mimics, and humans see them as other. Fae born nonetheless feel most comfortable among other fey if not their own mixed kind.

Personality[edit]

They are best described as childish people. Fae born love to play pranks and live lives of whimsy. In their own make-believe kingdoms, fae born love to pretend like the universe revolves around them. When introducing themselves, they like to use titles they have never earned. For example, one who seems himself as a leader would call himself a king. They have the arrogance of a child's pride, which makes them unbearable for more serious races like dwarves. And sometimes they are annoying even to other fey like elves.

Fae Born Names[edit]

They have names in Sylvan usually. Upon coming to the natural world, some mix it with Common. And of course, all love to take aggrandizing titles. With a greater ego comes a longer and more grand-sounding name.
