History[edit]

Ents are type of Fey commonly found in the Feywild, but also rarely in the forests of other planes. They've only recently been discovered, but they've been there since the beginning of nature's creation.

Society[edit]

It's extremely rare for an Ent to live outside of the woods they came from. Ents protect the wildlife of their forests where they live and commune with other Ents, Fey creatures, plants, and animals that also live in that forest. Mostly, however, a forest only has two or three Ents (if that forest even has Ents).

Ent Names[edit]

Ents often have names of plants, flowers or trees.

Male: Quercus, Sambucus, Viburnum

Female: Phytolacca, Salix, Viola

Suggested Characteristics[edit]

When creating an Ent character, you can use the following table) of traits, ideals, bonds and flaws to help flesh out your character. Use these tables in addition to or in place of your background's characteristics. Most of the time, Ents have a distrust towards other humanoid creatures due to them destroying the Ent's forests.

d8 Personality Trait
1 I’ve spent so long in the forest that I have little practical experience dealing with people in the outside world.
2 I lie about almost everything, even when there’s no good reason to.
3 Sarcasm and insults are my weapons of choice.
4 I am always calm, no matter the situation. I never raise my voice or let my emotions controll me.
5 I would rather make a new friend than a new enemy.
6 I judge people by their actions, not their words.
7 When I set my mind to something, I follow through no matter what gets in my way.
8 I’m oblivious to etiquette and social expectations.
d6 Ideal
1 Aspiration. I’m determined to make something of myself. (Any)
2 Redemption. There’s a spark of good in everyone. (Good)
3 Tradition. The stories, legends, and songs of the past must never be forgotten, for they teach us who we are. (Lawful)
4 Respect. People deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. (Good)
5 Greater Good. My gifts are meant to be shared with all, not used for my own benefit. (Good)
6 Logic. Emotions must not cloud our sense of what is right and true, or our logical thinking. (Lawful)
d6 Bond
1 Everything I do is for Mother Nature.
2 I come from a noble forest, and one day I’ll reclaim my lands from those who stole them from me.
3 I ruined and hurt an innocent traveler who didn’t deserve it. I seek to atone for my misdeeds but might never be able to forgive myself.
4 Someone I loved died because of a mistake I made. That will never happen again.
5 Nothing is more important than the other members of my forest.
6 An injury to the unspoiled wilderness of my home is an injury to me.
d6 Flaw
1 I am suspicious of strangers and expect the worst of them.
2 I have trouble trusting in my allies.
3 Now that I've returned to the world, I enjoy its delights a little too much.
4 I secretly believe that everyone is beneath me.
5 I too often hear veiled insults and threats in every word addressed to me, and I’m quick to anger.
6 I’m always picking things up, absently fiddling with them, and sometimes accidentally breaking them.
