The air is thick with the stench of decay and death, and something seems to stir just beyond your range of sight, and then it's there, a form of rotting scraps, charging forward through the warm, stagnant air, straight for you.

Like a greater dreg golem, a dreg golem is a construct made of rust, rot, and anything else that is particularly repulsive. The biggest advantage they have is the fact that they produce a stench so awful that few living creatures can even bare to be near it. Liches or other various, intelligent, horrible creatures may keep one in their possession, protecting something of value to them.

Combat[edit]

Dreg golems are mindless fighting machines, merely doing what their creators tell them to do, nothing else. Dreg golems have no strategy in combat, just charge and kill, making them easily outsmarted in battle.

Rotting Aura (Su): A stench rolls from the body of a dreg golem in waves, incapacitating anything that smells it. Any living, breathing character who is within 50 feet of the dreg golem must make a Fortitude saving throw (DC 20) or become Sickened until there is 50 feet or more between the golem and themselves, if the character failed their save last round and is still within 50 feet of the dreg golem they must pass another Fortitude saving throw or become Nauseated until there is 50 feet or more between the golem and themselves. A character who passes their Fortitude saving throw against a dreg golems rotting aura cannot be affected by the same dreg golems rotting aura for 24 hours. A character is entitled to a Fortitude saving throw to resist the golems rotting aura every round they are with 50 feet of the golem.

Immunity to Magic (Ex): A dreg golem is immune to any spell or spell-like ability that allows spell resistance, except as follows. An acid effect restores 1 hit point to the dreg golem for each 3 points of damage it would otherwise deal, additionally, spells with the fire descriptor have a 20% chance of dealing damage normally.

Construction[edit]

A dreg golem’s body is a compilation of various, repulsive substances, such as rust or rot, having a total weight of at least 3,000 pounds. These materials must be of around the same consistency, and may cost anywhere from 1,000gp to 2,000gp. Assembling the body requires a DC 16 Craft (alchemy) check.

CL 14th; Craft Construct, antimagic field, geas/quest, Contagion, caster must be at least 14th level; Price 25,000 gp; Cost 5,000 gp + 1,000 XP.
