Drakken are a type of dragon humanoid that have builds meant for close combat. Their scales are not spiky and are pliable, allowing for dexterous bodies. They have a tail, unlike dragonborns, which often helps them with maneuvers and balance when fighting. Their strength is mainly concentrated in their fists and legs, which are their main weapons, as they lack a natural breath weapon. Unlike the dragons of Faerun, they have ears like deer, a mane of hair, and long whiskers. The color of their hair and scales will usually depend on their dragon and human parent. Unlike the dragonborn, their dragon ancestry does not grant any particular resistance to the elements.

History[edit]

The drakken are a race born of the dragons of the continent Kara-Tur in the east. The dragons there are slender and serpentine, and usually more benevolent than the ones known on Faerun. These dragons are believed to practice martial arts and ki techniques, as well as wu jen. They sometimes would pass on ancient secrets of these techniques to humans, and generally kept good relations with the mortal folk. Sometimes, a martial artist will impress a dragon with their prowess. The dragon will then take a human form and make offspring with the individual. These children are the drakken, whose name comes from "dragon" and "ken," which means fist in the tongue of the Koryo. Like both parents, the drakken will grow up with the makings of a great martial artist.

Society[edit]

Typically, a drakken child will be raised in special monasteries devoted to reverence and research into coexistence with the dragons. There, they will acquire most of their skills and awaken talents. Most will then set out on their own journeys to fulfill whatever it is that they cannot satiate within the monastery walls, be it wanderlust or desire. Drakken are typically rare enough that they can only organize into migrating groups at most, but not villages of their own. They are popular figures, being offspring of dragons, which are seen as good luck omens. In history, many drakken have taken the paths of heroes and earned a lot of praise. But like all humans, they are fallible, and prone to becoming the greatest villains as well.

Drakken Names[edit]

All drakken males have a double-“e”,”o,” or “u” and females have double-“a”,“i,” or “u”s appear in their names followed by an “n”.
