A demon slayer's name is slightly decieving. Instead of totally killing or destroying a demon, a demon slayer will attack a demon until it is unable to defend itself, either by being unconcious or beaten to the brink of death. At this point a demon slayer will force the demon's existence into a charmed item such as a ring, pendant, amulet, or orb. After the demon has been absorbed into the item, the demon slayer can harness the power of the demon and use it in combat. The demon slayer may use the demon's original spells or amplify a spell, a weapon, or unarmed combat skill with the demonic power. If a demon slayer draws too much power from the item conataining a demon, the demon slayer may become tainted with the wishes of that demon, either setting it free or continuing the demon's goal, for a short period of time. If a demon slayer does this too many times or with too powerful of a demon, the hold the demon has on the slayer may become permanent.
Demon Slayer Overview |
| Characteristics: Demon slayers are stereotyped as unstable and possessed because of the famous stories of a demon slayer being possessed by a powerful demon and destroying an entire village before a monk put an arrow through his heart. In truth, most demon slayers are have little to none chance of being possessed. Demon slayers seem distant and like to be alone because most have troubled pasts and know they are targeted by demonic forces. They feel that if they are around too many people or are too close to people, those people may get hurt, either by a demon or by the slayer's past. |
| Religion: Demon slayers are normally shunned from public religion because of their supposed chances of losing control. Rarely is a demon slayer accepted in a place of worship that isn't local to him or filled with other demon slayers. |
| Races: Any race. Demons are very, very rare but still a possibility if they turn against they're own kind. |
[edit] Creating a Demon Slayer
Demon slayers become what they are for three reasons: a demon destoryed someone, somewhere, or something that they loved, the slayer has such a strong opposition to demons, they cannot stand a demon, or a deity or priest has called the slayer into action.
[edit] Vengeance
Vengeance demon slayers have had their lives changed by demons and have a hard time controlling thier rage. They attack with everything they have, mainly brute force, which is still a lot, but they do not take defence into account. They hope their opponents will not make it past the first volley of demonically influenced attacks.

[edit] Crusader
Crusader demon slayers are on a holy mission, usually a self-taken vow, to rid the world of demonic influences. The difference between the crusader demon slayers and anti-demon warriors is demon slayers use demonic power to defeat and conquer demons while warriors use anything but demonic power. They use most of their energy on attacking their enemy, focusing on using demonic magic to bring foes to their knees. They also guard themselves by using demonic energy to form a shield around them as they take enemies out one at a time.

[edit] Annointed
Annointed demon slayers are called either by a deity itself, or more commonly, a priest or high priest of a deity. They have been entrusted with their Object from temple storages. They are trying to rid the world of demons to please the masters that sent them on this neverending, futile quest. They focus on trying to weaken opponents with fear and small spells that come from demonic sources. They are not very good one-on-one fighters as they do not have the highest hit points or the highest attack. Annointed demon slayers are normally found mingled within wandering parties because of their supporting role.

[edit] Demon Slayer Class Features
All demon slayers share these class features.
Absorb Life Force: One of the darker powers demon slayers have. If they stumble upon or injure a creature to the point where the life will seep out, leaving the organism dead, a demon slayer may absorb the leaking life force into his Object. This life force is first transfigured into hit points. If the slayer cannot gain any more hit points, the life force will strengthen his hold on the demons in his object
Absorb Demonic Power: When a demon slayer is attacked by a demon, and the demon uses power or magic straight from Hell, a demon slayer can absorb most if the power and transfigure it into a bonus to his attack dirrectly corrolating with the demon slayers leve, the level of the demon, and the layer of the power.
Release Demons: A demon slayer can release all of the demons in his Object at once creating a miniature hell wherever the demon slayer releases the demons. This rarely happens and only in times of dire need or demonic takeover of the demon slayer's body. This power can be very powerful and effective if released in the heart of an enemies camp. The strength of this power dirrectly corrolates to the number, level, and type of demons in the Object. Once released, the demon slayer becomes responsible for whatever damage they may cause and must go recapture them.
Demonic Contract: Sometimes a demon is just too powerful to fall into a demon slayer's trap. The demonic contract is the ability to form up an agreement with a high leveled demon that will either banish the demon to Hell or make the demon hold permanent residence inside of the slayer's Object. These contracts normally come at a steep price. They are rarely used.
Capture Demon: This power is the main staple of the demon slayer's being. Once a slayer lowers a demon's power to the point where the demon cannot defend itself, a slayer can capture the demon and its power within the confines of the object. As a slayer gets high in level the less he needs to weaken lower leveled demons before capturing them.
[edit] Powers
A demon slayer's powers are called summons and are the powers of the demons the slayer has absorbed into his Object. Any power of the demon that has been absorbed is accessible to the slayer. A slayer must be at least the level of the power to perform the power, also if the slayer uses a demon's power too many times, he may start to lose control to that demon.
