...and howling specters rose from the corpses. They floated across the field to a lone, black-robed figure. It was then that they bowed. His hand jerks suddenly, and the skeleton you where fighting strikes with a black, glowing sword...

Death Lords Overview

Characteristics: DeathLords are often shunned by other characters and are generally not pleasant to be around. Clerics and other classes like them might refuse to adventure with a DeathLord or might outright ATTACK them. The one time people are nice to a DeathLord would be when a friend died and they want them to bring them back to life. In that case, the DeathLord might refuse just to defy them.
Religion: Most DeathLords don't worship any god. They have huge egos and refuse to pledge themselves to someone else. Gods also do NOT like DeathLords, Since they cheat death and the natural order of things. They do revere what they call The Dark Moon. A black moon in the sky they say only they can see. This moon supposedly channels all of their necrotic spells to the dead souls they need to raise.
Races: Drows make great DeathLords. Living in such dark, evil places makes them more suitable than anyone else. Shardminds and Devas would make good DeathLords by putting their intelligence to good use. But it is very unlikely that there would be an evil enough Shardmind or a Deva willing to risk reincarnating into a demon. Half-elves might be drawn to such an evil class, and tieflings are likely to embrace their dark side.
