This page is of questionable balance. Reason: Dark Heritage: There is no "animal" type in 4e. There are Beasts and Magical Beasts. Handle Animal can be used on Beasts with the Natural origin. A Nightmare is a Magical Beast with the Shadow origin, so Handle Animal cannot be used on it anyway. Fury: Advise against giving races a weapon attack, this should be handled by class. This could be the application of ongoing damage and a disease in conjuction with a class daily attack power. Except there's not much point in infecting a monster with a disease.

Dark Hylians are Hylians that refused to help the Zora fight against the Skum. The Hylian clerics, the Dark Hylians' enemies, cursed the traitors, giving them an evil appearance.

| Dark Heritage: Your ancestors were cursed by refusing to help the Zora. You have kept that heritage. You carry a dark form and you have a dark presence around you that gives you a -2 on a handle animal checks dealing with an animal of any alignment of good or neutral. Their starting behavior can never be more than unfriendly when dealing with a Dark Hylian. You gain a +2 on handle animal checks when dealing with animals with an evil alignment (such as a nightmare). |

When the Zora petitioned the Hylians to help them, some didn’t like the Zora because of what the Zora had sometimes done to their sailors. The Hylians tried to get them to change their minds, but it was no use. As a punishment, the Hyrule clerics cursed them. Their complexion changed. Their eyes glowed red. Horrified at their appearance, they agreed to help. But after the battle, they left.
They reach maturity at the age of 18.

Dark Hylians don't like the Zora nor their own kin: the Hylians. Their alignment tends to be Chaotic Evil. They wage a war against the Hylians. They will kill a Hylian if they get the chance
Dark Hylian Characteristics: Tall, dark, glowing red eyes, and agressive.
Male Names: Same as the Hylians and Elves

[edit] Dark Hylian Adventurers
Three sample Dark Hylian adventurers are described below.
Iris is a Dark Hylian Wizard. Before she met the adventurers, she would just hang around the tavern, getting a drink and waiting for a Hylian to walk in. She didn't care if she killed someone in public. "That's just what I do." She would say to herself. Once she found the adventurers, there was a Hylian Paladin. At first, she wanted to just kill him. But after a while, he became fairly acceptable in her eyes. "Maybe they aren't so bad."
Falsar is a Dark Hylian Fighter. A trained assassin. His job was to infiltrate the Hylian's Fort and kill the commander. During the attempt, he accidentally set off a trap, which fired a crossbow, hitting him in the back. Overwhelmed by the pain, he cried out, getting him captured. On prisoner exchange, the Dark Hylians got him back. And when his commander asked how he was, he answered, "I've never been treated so well in my life". In consequence of that, he was forced into exile. An adventuring group found him, starved, and dying just for the want of water. They nurtured him back to health. Once he was fully aware of things again, he found out that a Zora had treated him. His whole opinion of Zora changed.
