[edit] Cursed Lord
| “ | "Die now, die later, die screaming it doesn't matter, you are going to die." | ” |
| —Howie, half-drow hexblade/cursed lord, <The lords of Yaptopia, campaign notes> | ||
Cursed Lords often control small towns or command units of troops. They are often seen as fair fighters that focus on getting things done at all costs. Collateral damage is acceptable as long as the ends justify the means. They are usually fairly patient and good at keeping secrets while they plan out their next move.
"The Lord of that town, well he is well spoken of. Can't think of a reason for the life of me why he keeps so many guards." - commoner
[edit] Becoming a Cursed Lord
Hexblades who seek power through the manipulation of others often select this path. It grants bonus feats that are tailored to hide who they really are and attract others to their cause. It is also designed to aid them in their spellcasting capabilities which some players have found to be wanting. A Cursed Lord often masquerades as a Lord or knight keeping their true nature from those around them until it is too late.

[edit] Campaign Information
[edit] Playing a Cursed Lord
Cursed Lord's are for those who wish to take hexblades into more of a support role. they can boost
party members and weaken foes. They work well as diplomats for any area as their Mask of Gentility bonus feat makes it impossible to discern their alignment and with char being their main attrib.
Combat: A Cursed Lord is comfortable in-between the heavy hitters and spellcasters, their aura and curse can soften up foes while they find a spot to move in and finish off weakened foes.
Advancement: As this is a higher level prestige class meant to compliment the hexblade advancement was not really thought about. If both classes are maxed out at level 30 a character would benefit greatly from the Marshall class out of the miniatures handbook.
Resources: Cursed Lords rarely work with others of their own class, they hold a respect of one another and loose alliances may be made.
[edit] Cursed Lords in the World
Most Cursed Lords are lords of towns, hold seats on councils or are commanders of units in armies.
{{quote|"Welcome to Raglar, if you need anything be sure to come through me, I am the one who knows what really goes on here."|4=Lord Jerazan, council seat of Raglar, Human Hexblade/Cursed Lord}
PC Cursed Lords are often hexblades who find their melee skills to fall behind at higher levels and seek to bolster their abilites through magic.
NPC Reactions: Most NPC's would judge a Cursed Lord by the persona they have created about themselves. It varies from Cursed Lord to Cursed Lord.
[edit] Cursed Lord Lore
Cursed Lord's are not very well known as they tend to keep their true nature secret from most people. Mostly found in evil or nuetral towns they are commonly leaders of others who are regarded as very outgoing and charming. They rarely put their true personality into public eye, even close friends sometimes never see the real side of these secretive power hungry leaders.
Characters with ranks in Knowledge(Nobility) can research Cursed Lords to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.
| DC | Result |
|---|---|
| 15 | Some Lords secret identities reveal a much darker side |
| 20 | Hexblades sometimes become so charismatic they obtain the ability to gather followers in large numbers. |
| 25 | Cursed Lords are advanced hexblades who focus more on magic than melee, using their charismatic ways to gain the trust of all around them. |
| 30 | The Cursed Lords often take control of cities, using their strange aura to weaken their foes making them easy targets. |
