  1. The SRD only gives a means to determine costs and weights of weapons for Large and Small versions based on the Medium weapons. Any other supplied values are the author's best determination.

This crossbow looks like a light (or heavy) crossbow with a scope mounted on top of it. When looking through the scope, you can see with much greater accuracy at a greater distance thanks to the etched markings in the lenses called crosshairs.

A telescopic sight is mounted on a crossbow to replace the standard iron sights and provide better accuracy at longer ranges. The scope features crosshairs marked in the lens for several distances. This scope effectively doubles the normal range increment of light and heavy crossbows. However, you take a -2 attack penalty when firing this weapon at any distance shorter than 30 ft., due to the scope limiting your immediate field of vision when aiming. This scope cannot be mounted on a hand crossbow.

Special: To mount a crossbow scope correctly, you must make a DC 20 craft (weaponsmithing) check. You can take 10 or 20 on this check given you have the time and you are trained in craft (weaponsmithing). Failed mounted scopes do not align properly and incur a -4 penalty on all attacks.
