Countries (Resmoroldo setting)
From D&D Wiki
- Resmoroldo has been regarded as a very beautiful continent, at least, it was. The main island is split into two different sides, with a mountainous border dividing them. These two sides are as thus. To the south, the Holy Empire of Rwennron. To the north is the Country of Chal. Three islands surround the continent, one to the east, one to the north, and one to the west. The eastern island is called Foronaich. The northern island is known as Ravenmore. The western island is named Sollica. These lands comprise Resmoroldo and all her glory.

[edit] Rwennron
- Political System: Theocracy
- Capital: Tripuido
The southern empire, holy glory about every building in all its towns. This nation is led by the paladin Lord Xalon Romeo Hastrel, who acts like the nations conduit with their primary god. Its southern climate is only evident in the lower half of the country, and the western portion of that is covered in the sandy wastes of the Raiders Bedspread. Its large cities are filled with alabaster towers and glimmering monuments to their lord and master, Hastrel. Most cities are controlled by a contingency of guards, and in most cases this guard is small offshoot or battalion belonging to the Knights Vestri. Rwennron as a whole works for the good of everything, and the destruction of anything that does not further those goals as well. But, is this land a utopia?
Of course it is not, far from it in fact. Rwennron is a military state, the Knights Vestri both acting as soldiers and as secret police. Nothing goes unchecked in the land of Rwennron. Every ship to come in is searched for illegal substances, the smallest crimes go with the steepest punishment, spies are everywhere, nothing in sacred. Everyone must conform to certain curfews, a dress code, worship the same god, and speak only the right things at the right time. By that token, Rwennron is much like Oceana from the George Orwell book, 1984. Everything is monitored by the Knights, and if they catch word of anything even remotely dangerous to the country, or any infringement on a law, you can sure as hell bet that they will be on their way with swords drawn.
The nation was founded by Hastrel himself, who is an unnaturally long lived human due to the necklace that he wears. For hundreds of years the nation has been in conflict with its northern cousin Chal in the military struggle that has cost thousands of lives. The original intent it is said, that the empire unify the continent of Rwennron peacefully under one rule. However, when Hastrel discovered that he was not the only one who wanted to do so (though for a distinctly different reason), he quickly used his charisma and the devotion of his followers to create an incredibly powerful military for the land, one of, if not the most powerful legion of paladins in all the continents of this world.
Its capital, Tripuido, is one of the most beautiful cites ever built, even moonlight creating a wonderful array of golden light when buildings catch its rays.
[edit] Chal
- Political System: Dictatorship
- Capital: Epulae
Formerly a large conglomeration of smaller kingdoms, they were all forcefully assimilated when Lord Vesica Spindleson Thrax came to the land of Resmoroldo. He took the nations and crafted his burning legion of unholy warriors from the weak and the pitiful, transforming even the most frail warrior into killing machine. Of course, this all stemmed from the unending rivalry that Chal has with Rwennron. Thrax controls the country with his military order, the Hands of Calamity. They act as the standing army and the police force. The Hands make sure all the laws are enforced, but that is by no means saying that they too follow those laws. In Chal, the citizens are oppressed and the Hands of Calamity run rampant with power. Every major town is controlled with an iron fist, however, outside of these towns, Thrax does not care, and the area becomes a veritable no mans land (literally, there's no man to be found, it's a goddamn wasteland).
The nation's capital, Epulae, is perhaps the most imposing and dramatic cities in existence. Simply looking at its many powers strikes fear into the hearts of those who oppose the nation, and awe into those who do not.
[edit] Foronaich
- Political System: Hypogarchy (A land ruled by mages)
- Capital: The Arcane University: Foronaich Campus
The island that is located off to the west of Resmoroldo, one of three lands neutral to the conflict. Its population is almost entirely that of arcane magic users. Founded untold ages ago by sorcerer Junaris Dreamtime, the country keeps true to the nature of many arcane magic users in that they tend to keep to themselves. Indeed, trade and relations goes on between other countries, but only the bear minimal needed to continue existing. Though mostly consisting of sorcerers and wizards, a very small population of bards has also become very successful in the land of Foronaich. An outsider in this nation will certainly get many a strange look as he walks down the streets. Its capital is the main campus of the Arcane University, the pinnacle of magical study, and a desired destination for many a magic user. Junaris Dreamtime leads both the nation and the school, one as Headmaster of the university, the other as the Chief Golder Morrow of Foronaich.
The university has been regarded as a very breathtaking place to be. Home to both students and political leaders, one can find quite the time if they chose to spend it here.
[edit] Ravenmore
- Political System: Despotism (With many traits of a kleptocracy)
- Capital: Frostbain City
Yet another neutral nation that keeps to itself, Ravenmore is located north of Rwennron. Most of its population consists of smugglers and other lowlifes, in fact, smuggling is a government sanctioned profession in Ravenmore. The economy is fueled almost entirely by smuggling, considering how both Rwennron and Chal have very strict laws on illegal substances, it's an easy way to get rich in this line of work. The leader of Ravenmore is Mistress Luna Camus, who took control of the nation several decades ago. Before Mistress Camus, the nation was split amongst five anarchist lords all fighting for power. Camus won, and took the nation for her own. She uses the national treasury like her personal bank account, only caring for her own greed rather than the well being of her citizens.
Frostbain City is nothing special, anyone who accidentally wandered into it would think it's just a typical city.
[edit] Sollica
- Political System: Presidential Democracy
- Capital: Dracomyer
Sollica has the largest population of simple folk of any of the other lands. It has an abundance of small towns and makes most of its money by farming. Though, this by no means is grounds to call it a weak nation. It's current president (called the Artemian Lord) is a proud warrior, coming from a long line of fighters. Sir Flynn as he is called, leads the nation proudly, trying his best(and perhaps the only leader doing a good job) to create peace with the other lands. Sollica has established neutrality with Ravenmore and Foronaich and is currently working on a treaty to make itself allies with Ravenmore, though Foronaich is turned off to the idea that the leader of Sollica is a fighter. Lord Thrax and Lord Hastrel admire Sir Flynn and his levelheadedness, but that by no means is to say that they respect him.
Dracomyer is a grand castle swarming with powerful warriors. Stepping foot here makes you feel as though the nation just went to war. Truly a dramatic feeling indeed.
