Calculated Warriors analyze the situation carefully, using every stumble, potential weapon, bonus, and chink in defenses to maximum effect. Rather than using brute strength, incredible skill, or vast knowledge of spells to dominate, they use what is already there to defeat enemies.

[edit] Becoming a Calculated Warrior

Calculated Warriors can easily gain Combat Advantage, deal extra damage, can ignore Armor Class and are hard to hit. Rouges and anything with Sneak Attack does well with this class. They can also be used as defenders, perhaps in conjunction with Fighter.

Entry Requirements
Alignment: Any.
Base Attack Bonus: +1 or higher.
Race: Any.
Skills: Spot (5 ranks) OR Sense Motive (5 ranks).
Feats: Combat Expertise, Mobility.
Special: Wisdom or Intelligence of 15 or higher, Dexterity of 13 or higher.

[edit] Class Features

Calculated Warriors use pre-judged cuts, slashes, moves, and blocks to stay one step ahead in battle. They can predict enemy moves to counter-attack, dodge, . All of the following are class features of the Calculated Warrior.

Combat Opportunity: Whenever you have any favorable circumstances against an enemy (Combat Advantage, they have any debuff) and attack them, that attack gains combat advantage and the enemy grants combat advantage to allies until the start of your next turn.(Or an additional +2 to attack roll if already granting Combat Advantage) This can be used only once per debuff, up to your class level times per round. Improved allows 2 uses per debuff, and Epic allows one of each other ability per debuff.

Calculated Strike: Whenever you have Combat Opportunity, you can instead use a full-round action and make your attack a Calculated Strike, dealing extra damage and gaining a bonus to the attack roll equal to the number of bonus die. Improved allows you to make regular attacks for the rest of your BAB, and Epic makes it a Standard Action.

Prediction: Whenever you have Combat Opportunity, you can spend a standard action to predict your opponent's actions. This prediction must be accurate to the action used, the target and the result. You can specify the when this will occur, if you wish (for example, you could say that when I move to this square, the orc will make an AoO on me at this point.) If you succeed, you can make an Calculated Strike AoO during the action if they are within attacking range. Improved Allows you to only predict two: Action, Location or Target, and Epic allows one.

Artful Dodging: You can dodge attacks with uncanny precision. You gain a dodge bonus to AC(one per two levels, starting at level one), and an extra bonus of the same amount when using a full defense or defensive attack and Combat Opportunity. In addition, you can gain that bonus yet again by using Combat Opportunity again against the enemy. Improved grants the full defense bonus automatically, and Epic allows another use for another bonus.

Combat-Alert: You gain a bonus to any combat relevant (DM's discretion) skill checks during combat equal to your class level. Improved allows you to take no penalties from battle distractions, and epic allows you to gain the bonus at all times.

Armor Pierce: You can use Combat Opportunity to make any one attack a Touch Attack or ignore Dodge bonuses.

Bonus Feats: You get a Fighter Bonus Feat every 4 levels. You still need the prerequisites for the skills.

Saves: You continue to gain saves in epic levels, at +1 to all every 2 levels.

The epic Calculated Warrior gains a bonus feat (selected from the list of epic Calculated Warrior feats) every 4 levels starting at 12th level.

Epic Calculated Warrior Bonus Feat List: Improved Combat Reflexes, Blinding Speed, Epic Weapon Specialization, Epic Weapon Focus, Perfect Two-Weapon Fighting, Perfect Multi-Weapon Fighting.

[edit] Playing a Calculated Warrior

Combat: Can defend or attack physically.

Advancement: Combat Opportunity's instant combat advantage is quite advantageous to rouges and similar classes, while its damage and defense is quite good on it's own. Pairing with a few levels of Fighter could help you gain a few feats, while a class with ranged advantages could help you become a powerful striker from afar.

Resources: Calculated Warriors are simply people who learn a new style of fighting. As such, there is no organization that specifically caters to them.

I can turn a battle from loss to victory, save the world and not lose a single man. This I do without lifting a finger, as it is not my physical prowess that drives me but my maximized use of the world around me.

Again, these warriors are not a group, they simply learned a new style. They might be renowned fighters, however.

[edit] Calculated Warrior Lore

Calculated Warriors are not really known as a separate group from other people. Being a calculated warrior simply is a style of battle. However, research (Intelligence Check) can reveal some insights into strategies of this style of fighting.

11 Calculated Warriors are not magical in the slightest. As a result, it takes time for them to calculate their actions.
16 Calculated Warriors can use combat situations to their advantage, but can only do one thing with the opportunity to get maximum effect.
