Caelumoragens (3.5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Caelumoragens'(pronounced Kay-lum-or-a-gens'), otherwise known as sky rim people
These people are nice, kindly and friendly towards travellers, unless a war is on that includes that settlement, in which case they might believe the traveller to be a spy and attack them. However there are as mnay types as humans. Some may be vicious creatures, some may be harmless jokesters. It all depends on the person.
 Physical Description
Caelumoragens look like leaner, taller humans as they were once humans.
The Caelumoragens get along well with travellers, but they dislike anything that tries to invade their territory. The most common thing that invades their territory are other Caelumoragens from another territory trying to take some of the rare fertile land that is found in Skies rim.
Caelumoragens can be of any alignment, there are many different types of these people, enough to cover all the alignments.
Caelumoragens reside in a gigantic line of Plateaus named Skies rim. Each plateau is seperated by chasms, from 100 feet deep at minimum, to chasms that stretch all the way to the Underdark. Many attempts have been made to climb these chasms but all of them have been worn smooth over time. Fertile land is very rare in Skies rim,as the plateaus are very high in the sky and wars erupt constantly over these lands. Each settlements territory is equal to the size of the plateau that they reside on, however, some settlements manage to get themselves empires with many plateaus under control of one settlement.
 Religion & Culture
Many gods are worshipped over Skies rim. You can normally find more than one god being worshipped per settlement. The centers of the Caelumoragens' culture are their Caelumtrabas (Sky ships). These ships allow the people to traverse different plateaus, and to make war on others. These ships are powered by the mighty mages that train from childhood to move these ships, and these mages are loved by all non-mages in their settlement. When a child reaches adulthood they undergo a ceremoy which ends with them getting a new construct arm or hand. The adult tells the people gathered at the ceremony how much of an arm they are willing to lose and then they have that much of it cut off and replaced with a construct piece of that area.
Caelumoragens speak common as they were once humans until they managed to get onto the plateaus of Skies rim.
Caelumoragens children are named at birth by their parents and given a title after a year of life, but when they reach adulthood (20 years) they are able to choose their own name.
Male names at childbirth include: Grunky the over attentive, Thog the one with a personality disorder, Spark the useless, Whooves the Adorable, and many more.
Female names at childbirth include: Ariel the better then everyone else, Violette the cannabalised, Dashie the tomboy, Candy the Diseased, and many more.
 Racial Traits
- +8 Dexterity, -2 Constitution, -2 Wisdom: Over the generations the Caelumoragens have became more agile as at some time all Caelumoragens serve on a sky ship and it just takes a little bit of wind to blow someone of to their death, the air up so high has reduced the toughness of these people and Skies rim has a very different ecosystem to other places in the world, and this causes them to be less wise, unless they are on Skies rim, in which case they lose their -2 ability modifier until they exit Skies rim.
- Humanoid: This race was once human and they still have much in common with them.
- Medium: Caelumoragens' get no size related bonus.
- Caelumoragens base land speed is 30 feet
- Caelumoragens have developed things called "guns". They gain proficiency with all firearms.
- Gauntlet mark 1 (ex): This is the construct part that is given if only the hand is cut off.
The gauntlet comes with 20 counts unarmed damage as lethal and also doubles the damage done from each unarmed hit. It also has a Harpoon launcher on the top of it and this can fire 1 harpoon (damage found here: http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Harpoon ) up to a range of 100 feet a turn, but it takes a full round action to reload it. Before firing, the harpoon can be attached to a chain as a free action (situated in and attached to the gauntlet) and if the harpoon hits a target that can sustain your weight then any falling done by you will be stopped instantly without the character taking fall damage and you will hang at the height you stopped at. The chain has a reel option that allows the chain to be automatically reeled in or out (to a maximum of 200 feet) at a rate of 10 feet per round. The chain can be automatically detached from the harpoon using the gauntlet. If you hit someone, while the harpoon is loaded, with an unarmed attack then the harpoons damage will be included to the total damage but it wont be doubled.
- Gauntlet mark 2 (ex): This is the construct part that is given if the forearm is cut off.
The gauntlet comes with 30 harpoons and counts unarmed damage as lethal or unlethal, it is the users choice. Along the left and the right of the forearm are harpoon launchers, one on each side, and these can fire 1 harpoon (damage found here: http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Harpoon ) up to a range of 200 feet a turn each (but if both are fired in the same turn they must both be at the same target), however you can choose to fire only one a turn, but it takes a full round action to reload each one. Before firing, the harpoon can be attached to a chain as a free action (situated in and attached to the gauntlet) and if the harpoon hits a target that can sustain your weight then any falling done by you will be stopped instantly without the character taking fall damage and you will hang at the height you stopped at. The chain has a reel option that allows the chain to be automatically reeled in or out (to a maximum of 400 feet) at a rate of 20 feet per round. The chain can be automatically detached from the harpoon using the gauntlet. If you hit someone at range with a harpoon shot then you have a 10% chance of getting the harpoon stuck in the enemy and it that happens then you can begin to reel in the enemy as a fullround action each turn at the reel speed, the harpoon stays in until it is removed as a full action, requiring two people to work together to remove it. If you hit someone, while the harpoon is loaded, with an unarmed attack then the harpoons damage will be included to the total damage. This gauntlet also includes a light steel shield attached to the top of it that can be folded in half to make it look like part of the arm. When it is folded you count as not having it. Folding it and unfolding it are free actions.
- Gauntlet mark 3 (ex): This is the construct part that is given if the whole arm is cut off.
Since the one giving up there limb is brave enough to do that they are given the choice of how their new construct arm is built and what features it has, although traditionally it has a harpoon launcher on it somewhere.
- All Caelumoragens have the weapon Finesse feat and your gauntlet gains the benefit of this feat, however if you have some sort of object that would apply penalties to this attack that are built into the gauntlet, eg: the shield on mark 2, the penalties go away.
- Automatic Languages: Common. Bonus Languages: Any, the libraries of Skies rim are large and travellers plentiful.
- Favored Class: Any, these people have learned to follow their own path in life.
- Level Adjustment: 0
