[edit] Brood Warrior
The Brood Warrior is a warrior. He beats and/or slashes thing into nonexistance. His main ability is Ascension: a power he uses to become a draconic beast and beat things up even better.
[edit] Making a Brood Warrior
The Brood Warrior is a strong fighter, and with his Ascension ability he can be a real boon to a party in a tight spot. How the Brood Warrior gets along with other party members is really dependent on the Brood Warrior himself: many different opinions are encompassed by the ways of the Brood Warrior.
Abilities: This class needs Wisdom and at least decent physical scores to survive.
Races: Any and all races are likely to be taken in by a master Brood Warrior and raised to become another of the Brood.
Alignment: Any
Starting Gold: As Fighter
Starting Age: Moderate

[edit] Brood Warriors in the World
{{The life of a Brood is generally that of isolation and wariness. Those who survived Myria's genocide are raised knowing that they survived through luck and cowardice, and the number of Brood warriors are so few that most are content to continue surviving through luck and cowardice. Life is a constant struggle to keep one's true nature hidden, for fear that once trusted friends will turn away once the dragon within bears its fangs.}}
| “ | The Brood pose too great a danger to the world. Our power...our very existence threatens it. We cause war and chaos wherever we go... | ” |
| —Teepo, Brood, Brood Warrior | ||
Notables: Ryu is a Brood Warrior who was come to surprising prominence over the years. He is one of the few Brood to venture from isolation and virtually the only one to join with those of other races and willingly display his Ascension in battle. Teepo is a Brood who has betrayed his kind. Once a dear childhood friend of Ryu, he was swayed over the years by Myria's words of how inherently dangerous and destructive his kind are. He now follows her unquestioningly and seeks nothing less than the complete suppression of what is left of his race.
Organizations: Most of the Brood were eradicated by the followers of the goddes Myria thousands of years ago. Those few Brood who managed to survive either congregate in isolated, self-sufficient communities far from civilization or wander alone among other races. There are no public Brood organizations.
NPC Reactions: Since virtually no Brood survived Myria's genocide, the belief of most NPCs who have heard of the Brood will be that they are either extinct or completely mythical. Attempting to convince them as such without actually Ascending will be exceedingly difficult, requiring a successful Charisma check at a base penalty of -3, a Bluff check with +10 to the DC, or other similar methods. The exception to this rule are Guardians. A Guardian can immediately identify a Brood with a successful Will save when in the presence of one, which is made automatically whenever the Brood and the Guardian are within twenty feet of one another. Guardians, as Myria's servants, always treat known Brood with distrust at best and open hostility at worst. Any Guardian who would considers themselves a true servant of Myria will never allow a Brood to live. Whether they are killed immediately or later is often a trivial matter, however.
[edit] Brood Warrior Lore
Characters with ranks in Knowledge (History), Knowledge (Arcana), or Knowledge (Religion) can research Brood Warriors to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.
| DC | Result |
|---|---|
| 5 | The Brood were a race of humans with the power to turn themselves into fearsome dragons. If they ever existed at all, they were all wiped out by the followers of the goddess Myria thousands of years ago. |
| 10 | Brood were said to access their power through powerful crystallizations of mana known as "genes". Each gene provides a different attribute when used in the Brood Warrior's transformation - different combinations can create vastly different dragons. Genes are exceedingly rare. If a living Brood were ever encountered, it would doubtless to nearly anything to acquire one. |
| 15 | It is said by some of the more well-traveled sort that a handful of Brood survive. They speak of far flung settlements of Brood survivors, far from civilization. Who knows what arcane secrets might be found if these towns could be infiltrated successfully?. |
| 20 | Rumors abound recently of one particular Brood Warrior who has not only emerged from isolation, but joined with one of Myria's most trusted Guardians and is journeying on a pilgrimage to confront her face to face about the murder of his people. |
