Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: "Destiny" doesn't explain what the vow is. Core feature "shadow wisps" is sloppily written. You can't just say "et cetera" to what the bonus can be applied to, you need to be explicit; and the terminology needs fixing (there isn't an attribute called "health" that you can add a bonus to.

Bringer Of Darkness[edit]

The bringer of darkness is a warrior guided by destiny and aided by the shadows. His powers are great, but many view them as a curse.

Making a Bringer Of Darkness[edit]

Races: Any race can be a bringer of darkness. Humans, with their impetuous nature and ties to destiny, are the most likely.

Alignment: Any Evil. The Bringer of Darkness must always lean towards evil because of the influence that darkness has on them. See Destiny.

Bringer Of Darkness[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Bringer Of Darkness.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Martial weapons and light armor, no shields

Destiny: A Bringer Of Darkness is surrounded by strange shadows and treats his new found power as a curse, gift, or even a tool. He takes a vow to uphold evil. This is necessary in order to level as the class. This may not be broken. A Bringer of Darkness must remain of evil. If he ceases to be evil and commits an act of kindness the he will loose all of they'r spells and abilities.

Shadow Wisps: The source of a Bringer Of Darkness's power comes from dark beings called shadow wisps. This wisps exist with the Bringer Of Darkness, forming themselves to him. As the Bringer Of Darkness grows in levels, more wisps form to him increasing his power. He may manipulate these wisps to enhance himself beyond normal bounds. Each wisp has a power of +1/+5, which can be applied to many abilities. The first number, to attacks, damage, ac, skills, saves, ect. The second is more limited. This only can go to speed and health, as well as a few special abilities. Multiple wisps may stack, but each can only enhance one ability at a time (ex. 3 wisps on attack for +3, 2 on ac for +2, and 2 on speed for +10). The Bringer Of Darkness may also use his wisps for other purposes, forming wings, ect. Talk to your DM to see how these can be used. Examples are summons, teleporting, shields, structures, ect. A Bringer Of Darkness gains 1 wisp per level. He may activate a wisp any time in a round to gain its bonus, but may deactivate them at the end of each round, and then may be reactivated for different purposes the following round.

Power of Darkness: Internal power brims to breaking point inside the Bringer Of Darkness, emerging in his attacks. He may add 1/2 his Cha to his attack and damage.

Shadow Resilience: Shadows envelope the Bringer Of Darkness, giving him a DR/silver = to 1/2 his Cha.

Nocturnal Hunter: The night is the home of a Bringer Of Darkness. He gains Dark-vision full and blindsight 5ft per level.

Weapon of Darkness: A Bringer Of Darkness does not always have a weapon ready when needed. As a free action, he may create a weapon from the shadows. This functions as any other weapon. Also, he may turn one of his arms into a shadow claw, which does claw damage one size greater than the Bringer Of Darkness. Any wisps put into the weapon have a +2 enchant effect.

Army of darkness: Can use Lesser Planer Ally as the spell at will.

Dark Flow: The Bringer Of Darkness's bonus from his wisp's increases to +2/+10. At level 16, this becomes +3/+15.

Bonus Wisps: The Bringer Of Darkness now has 1.5 his level in wisps. At level 16, this becomes 2x his level.

Armor of Darkness: Can create armor similar to Weapon of Darkness. May also create Demon hide, a natural armor with a +2 bonus.

Unbreakable: The never ending endurance of mind over matter has forged the Bringer Of Darkness and given him unnatural will power. He may now add 1/2 his Cha to his will save.

Hordes of Darkness: Now can use Planer Ally as spell at will.

Body of Darkness: Heals 1/4 Cha of HP at beginning of each round. Any wisps to HP has 1.5 effect.

Legion of Darkness: Can use Greater Planer Ally as spell at will.

Heart of Darkness: The Bringer Of Darkness has dwelled in darkness so long, it's influence becomes permanent. His gains the sub-type of Outsider.

Ex-Bringer Of Darkness[edit]

If a bringer of darkness strays from his destiny, he can no longer level in the class till he returns to the path. This includes getting an atonement spell from a cleric of a deity devoted to destiny.

Out of the night I call to thee,

Making whispers form from trees.

Darkness swallows whole thine fears,

Biding one to venture here.

Safe they think are we from One,

But only in daylight sun.

For when shadows come in fright,

I come in with the moon lit night.

So go now and rest with ease,

Out of the night I call to thee.

—Valdur Crow, Human Bringer of Darkness

NPC Reactions: A Bringer of Darkness is shunned by most societies, but may be greatly liked in a evil based one. Paladins would treat as evil even if good. Basically they're like warlocks.
