Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: So, this guy. With energy gain he can gain 1 surge per encounter. He can spend that on an AoE spell to deal +2d10 damage on multiple enemies. That's without cutting into his normal surges: If the party defender has done his job, the black magician could use this at least 6 times in the last battle of the day. If this guy has a Con build and Durable feat, he could be dealing this bonus damage on every attack.

Sorcerer: Black Magician[edit]

The power of black magic is one that only the bold dare to study.

Prerequisite: Sorcerer

Black Magician Path Features[edit]

(11th Level): You can reach deep within yourself and draw upon your own life force, and the stolen life forces of others, to throw more power into your spells. Once per turn as a free action, just prior to using a sorcerer encounter power, a sorcerer daily power, or a black magician power, you can spend a healing surge, but you regain no hit points. Instead, when the power you use damages a target, you deal an extra 2d10 damage to that target. The type of the extra damage is the same as the type of the damage dealt by the power.

(11th Level): You can spend an action point to regain one of your encounter spells you have already used, instead of taking an extra action.

(16th Level): You can reach deep within yourself and draw upon your own life force, and the stolen life forces of others, to use more spells than you normally would. Spend a healing surge and make a Charisma check. The result indicates the kind of spell you regain. You can instead choose a spell using a lower result than you rolled, if you choose.
