Biotic Vanguard (Slayer)[edit]

There are people in the world born with the ability to manipulate the energy that flows around every living being. These people are known as biotics, extraordinary people with abilities that are similar to psionics. Those who have focused their abilities on close range fighting are known as Vanguards, known for charging into battle and fighting at varying ranges. Using their biotic powers and weapon expertise they can destroy a small group of enemies single handedly.

Within the ranks of the Vanguard there is a special group known as Slayers. Men and women who have found the secret to increasing there movement using there biotic abilities. it is common to see one "charge" into a group of enemies and decimate them so quickly it seems the Vanguard is blinking in and out of existence. Even the most powerful enemies are no match for a well trained Slayer. .

Making a Biotic Vanguard (Slayer)[edit]

The Vanguard is a combat focused class that is able to attack from both close and long range. The Slayer in particular is best at quickly closing the distance between himself and an enemy then immedietly recreating it to safely use his ranged attack Works well with most classes as an offensive role at all ranges but can not act as a tank..

Abilities: Wisdom and Dexterity are the primary abilities of this class. The Vanguard draws his power from his will and stays alive with his agility. If a more direct approach is chosen a high Strength may be prefered.

Races: Any race can become a Biotic Vanguard but Humans are most likely to be born with this ability due to their adaptability.

Campaign Information[edit]

Playing a Biotic Vanguard (Slayer)[edit]

Religion: Many Biotics see their powers as a curse or a blessing. Due to this their choice to follow a religion is personnel.

Other Classes: Due to the Slayers chaotic nature they dont get along with lawful characters. There lack of conviction to one cause or another may anger or seperate them from classes that are devoted to their cause..

Combat: The Slayers role is to do damage at all ranges and bounce around the battle field. Jumping from one skirmish to another the vanguard hits quick then moves on to the next fight.

Advancement: The Slayer can take a combat focused role or a ranged role doing massave damage from a distance. Multiclassing with a fighter would aid the close range combat side. If the biotic focus is chosen it is best to focus on the Slayer and not multiclass.

Biotic Vanguards in the World[edit]

Lets see how many of you I can kill, before you get a single hit on me.
—Vex, Human Vanguard

The Vanguards are very little known to most people since they are so rare. Those that do know of them hold them as hated destroyers or Deadly warriors. Many take jobs as mercanaries or body guards making a living of the blood of others

Daily Life: Many Vanguards learn of their abilities through some major event in their life time, whether good or bad. They spend most of their life either hiding it using it to the best cause that they see. Many use fighting itself to focus and control their abilities making it easier to hide their destructive ability..

NPC Reactions: Most NPCs that know of the Vanguard fear them because of the sheer amount of damage they can do.

Vanguard Lore[edit]

Characters with ranks in Gather Information can research Vanguards to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.

Gather INformation
DC Result
5 They use some swirling purple energy to fight.
10 They can focus there energy to phase in and out of existence.
15 Some of the best warriors in the World are vanguard that know how to use there abilities with out anyone knowing.
20 The energy they use is the energy around all living things. Everyone has this ability they are just the ones who have learned how to harness it.

Vanguards in the Game[edit]

Fight as mercenaries and assassins defeating many enemies quickly. If they do anything else its to hide there abilities which may come out in moments of extreme emotion

Adaptation: Played similarly to a ranger

Sample Encounter: If you ever come across a vanguard they will likely be in a group of other fighters.
