Life and Society:
Their religion employs elaborately organized cults and rituals, including the extensive practice of divination. Human sacrifices, particularly of children, are not unheard of.
Belis is an oligarchical republic ruled primarily by the merchant princes. The ruler is known as a Suffet.
The navy of Belis is powerful, nearly rivaling the Amareth navy.
Belis is a thriving commercial and agricultural civilization. Characteristic of their artistic achievements are the wall frescoes and realistic terra-cotta portraits found in their tombs. Much of it's revenue comes from it's extensive silver mines. However, as trade from Basira, Khepri, and Orisha flows through Belis, it is an incredibly wealthy nation.
Finely embroidered and dyed textiles of cotton, linen, wool, and silk, artistic and functional pottery, faience, incense, and perfumes. Also glass, wood, alabaster, ivory, bronze, brass, lead, gold, silver, and precious stones to create a wide array of goods, including mirrors, highly-admired furniture and cabinetry, beds, bedding, and pillows, jewelry, arms, implements, and household items.
