[edit] Battling the DM
This quest, when it is finished, is meant to take party members from levels 1-30. It is recommended for 5 players, so encounters may need to be scaled up or down.
[edit] Important Characters
[edit] Darnkor Metaro
DM is a half-drow warlord, with a human being his other parent. He secretly worships Orcus, as does his entire personal staff, and he uses the Colloseum as an excuse to sacrifice fighters. His goal is to summon Orcus and create an undead empire under his rule. He also wants to become a lich. However, currently the PC's only know him as their boss.
[edit] The Adventure Begins
The adventure starts off in the small town of Fallcrest. The party sees a sign saying, in elaborate scripture, "The Great Lord Darnkor Metaro's Fighting Colloseum! Come one, come all, and see battles of epic proportion take place!" In smaller print below, it says, "Looking for full-time fighters"
The Colloseum, proving not too far away, takes a days walking to reach. Once there, they see an entire town built around this Colloseum. Read: "The Colloseum stands, large and grand, built entirely of white marble, in the center of the town. The largest buildings, closer to the Colloseum, are filled to the brim with tourists in the town, waiting for the spectacle to begin. The farther buildings seem to include staff and warriors, waiting for battle. One building, almost connected to the Colloseum, stands with the letters painted on in red, 'DM's Private Grounds' on one door, and 'DM's Office' above the other. You interpret DM as Darnkor Metaro.' The party can do some exploring, and maybe watch a battle, but eventually you should have them talk to DM about employment.
DM's office is plain, with a single wooden table, two windows on the left side, and eight chairs. Three of the chairs are taken, one by DM himself, the other's by Razor, a bladeling fighter and DM's most devoted servant, and Cylio, a tiefling ranger and second in command. Once they enter DM's office to discuss employment, they can sit in the chairs. Read: "You sit in Darnkor's office, a very plain room compared to the rest of the village. There is one table in the center, and two lanterns hanging, both lit even though it is bright out. DM looks like a half-elf, but his skin is darker and his eyes are pale. Standing out brightly on his arm is a large orange marking, like a spiral. A tatoo, maybe? There also sits a warrior, covered in spikes with a serious look on his face. On the other side of DM sits a tiefling, obviously suspicious of your intentions. DM speaks to you, saying, 'So you seek employment here? Well, we do need new talent, but the next week is all booked. It could be weeks until you make your debut.' Then the tieflings eyes narrow, and he whispers in DM's ear. 'Ahh, yes' DM says. 'We do have a job for you tomorrow. Those sneaky Dargallians will finally meet their maker. You see, the Dargallians have been in sort of a rivalry with us, the management. We permit interteam sabotage to a certain degree. However, they have taken it too far. They haven't had a fair match in months because of their sabotage! However, tomorrow they will have a surprise match with you! It's perfect! They can't sabotage you, and they won't be able to take you either! And if you do lose, you don't have to worry. We heal the defeated so they can survive. However, you might sustain some injuries. However, if you're in a deathmatch, don't expect our help.'"
The PC's cabin is small, barely big enough for them to coexist in. It is 5 squares on every side. There are two 2-square tables, and two windows on every side.
