Sky Camouflage. Attack rolls against the ancient gray dragon while it is in the air roll with disadvantage.

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the dragon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The dragon can use its Frightful Presence. It then makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: + 15 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 19 (2d10 + 8) piercing damage and any creature hit must succeed on a DC 22 Constitution saving throw or become paralyzed for 1d6 turns. They may make another Constitution save at the beginning of each of their turns.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +15 to hit, reach 10ft., one target. Hit: 22 (4d6 + 8) slashing damage.

Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: + 15 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 27 (5d6 + 8) slashing damage.

Frightful Presence. Each creature of the dragon's choice that is within 120 feet of the dragon and aware of it must succeed on a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the dragon's Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.

Petrifying Breath (Recharge 5-6). The dragon exhales petrifying gas in an 90-foot cone. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 22 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a target begins to turn to stone and is restrained. The restrained target must repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn. On a success, the effect ends on the target. On a failure, the target is petrified until freed by the greater restoration spell or other magic.

REACTIONS

Spike Thrower. When a creature makes an attack against the dragon it may launch 3 spikes at the creature if it is within a range of 15 feet. The creature takes 16 (2d6+9) piercing damage for each spike.

LEGENDARY ACTIONS

The Ancient Gray Dragon can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The Ancient Gray Dragon regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Detect. The dragon makes a Wisdom (Perception) check.

Tail Attack. The dragon makes a tail attack.

Wing Attack (Costs 2 Actions). The dragon beats its wings. Each creature within 15 feet of the dragon must succeed on a DC 23 Dexterity saving throw or take 15 (2d6 + 8) bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. The dragon can then fly up to half its flying speed.

Gray dragons are hulking behemoths covered in bristling spikes and tough, rocky scaled skin. They live for the hunt, and are relentless pursuers in the air. Thanks to the coloration of their underbelly, they are hard to see when in midair. Its body is toughened against restraining effects that might prevent its movement, but it can turn others to stone instead. The teeth of this dragon are also filled with a toxin that causes paralysis. The spikes along its arms and back are also capable of being discharged when it is threatened. Its tail ends in 2 sharp scythe-like bones, which it uses to cleave men in two with a single swipe.
