The sound of the droning approaches slowly, accompanied with the sound of sloppy footsteps. Appearing as a large, roughly human-shaped being, this pile of vermilion wax moves around with stability, and from the many holes on its body one can see the horrifying arachnoid swarms waiting to sting an unfortunate victim.

This construct looks like a roughly 10 feet tall humanoid creature that is melting from the heat. Covered in viscous red fluid that drips from its many holes, it is treasured by intelligent undead creatures both for protection and for emergency source of healing. It is also popular for tormenting of unwanted individuals. It serves as a mobile home for waspiders, and are sometimes kept by evil wizards.

Combat[edit]

An agony golem is smart enough to hunt creatures effectively. It tries to chase victims, using waspider swarms to lead them to webs that are made beforehand, or directly catching victims and hold them while the swarms attack.

Agony (Ex): The holes on an agony golem allow waspiders to sting from within its body. Those hit by an agony golem's slam attack must succeed on a Fortitude save (DC19) or become stunned for 1 round and have -4 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks for 1d4 rounds afterward. Even with a successful save, the creature have the -4 penalty as above for 1 round, but is not stunned. Creatures hitting an agony golem with natural weapons or unarmed attacks are affected by this attack as though hit by the golem's slam attack.

Improved Grab (Ex): If an agony golem hits an opponent that is at least one size category smaller than itself with a slam attack, it deals normal damage and attempts to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it gets a hold, the agony golem has the option to conduct the grapple normally). Each successful grapple check it makes during successive rounds automatically deals slam damage.

Silk Spray (Ex): An agony golem can have the waspiders within it shoot strands of silk up to 20 feet as a standard action, up to eight times per day. This is a ranged touch attack, and is effective against targets up to Huge size. A hit creature must succeed on DC20 Reflex save or become slowed for 1d6 rounds, as the slow spell.

Swarm (Ex): An agony Golem may release a waspider swarm per round through the holes in its body. The swarms act on the golem’s initiative, starting on the round in which they were released. The golem must have at least one swarm within itself at all times. A swarm may reenter the golem as a swift action as well.

Hive Mind (Ex): If a swarm of waspider is aware of a particular danger, all other swarms and the agony golem is also aware. If one swarm in an encounter is not flat-footed, none of them are. The agony golem is not subject to flanking. If less than 1 swarm is within the body of the golem, it becomes mindless.

Magic Immunity(Ex): An agony golem is immune to all spells, spell-like abilities, and supernatural effects, except as follows. Healing effects slow it (as the slow spell) for 1d6 rounds, with no saving throw. Negative energy breaks any slow effect on the agony golem and cures 1 point of damage for each 3 points of damage it would otherwise deal. If the amount of healing would cause the golem to exceed its full normal hit points, it gains any excess as temporary hit points, up to a maximum of its twice its full normal hit point total. An agony golem does not get a saving throw against negative energy.

Protective Coating(Ex): Because of the viscous fluid that coats its surface, an agony golem takes half damage from slashing and piercing weapons. The goo is actually honey that the waspiders create from flesh of the living, plant material, and dark powers. Because of this, undead creatures in adjacent squares gain fast healing 5, as they drain the liquid from its surface that never dried.

Spider Climb(Ex): An agony golem can climb sheer surfaces as though with a spider climb spell.
