This feat is completely broken. It's unbelievable how it ever got a power rating of 4.60. Want an example?

Human Druid. Level 1. Take this feat with both your first level feat and your human bonus feat. Guess what, it stacks and there is no limit!

Congratulations, you are now a first-level character who walks around with one of the following:
* Bear, brown (animal)
* Dire wolverine
* Crocodile, giant (animal)
* Deinonychus (dinosaur)
* Dire ape
* Dire boar
* Dire wolf
* Elasmosaurus1 (dinosaur)
* Lion (animal)
* Rhinoceros (animal)
* Snake, Huge viper (animal)
* Tiger (animal)
My personal favorite is the rhinoceros for sheer hit points, but pretty much anything from the list will walk over any CR 1 encounter. I also like the wolf for its trip attack and the tiger for the combination of hide - charge - pounce - rake - improved grab, all in one round.

Want to go insane, take flaws and keep taking this feat, your DM will ban this after one session anyway so why not enjoy the moment?

For DMs who want to nerf the feat, try the following:
* remove the possibility to take it multiple times
* set maximum level = ECL
This way, the feat does what it's supposed to do (help multiclassed characters and high-level rangers) without the potential abuse. --Mkill 06:18, 19 June 2007 (MDT)

:I concur. A +1 LEVEL ability is strong. A +3 LEVEL ability is overpowering. --Dmilewski 09:05, 9 July 2007 (MDT)

::I notified Siegfried of the NBoF about it and he agreed. It seems likely that they will change this feat for the next edition. --Mkill 09:09, 9 July 2007 (MDT)

:::I'd like to additionally point out that a similar feat now exists as an official WotC feat, that only increases the AC's strength up to your character level, that's designed for multiclassing. I don't see this as balanced in any other way. --Maverick_Wolf 13:56, 08 August 2007 (EST)
Maverick Wolfhttps://www.dandwiki.com/w/index.php?title=Talk:Spellfire_Warrior_(3.5e_Class)&diff=122683Talk:Spellfire Warrior (3.5e Class)2007-08-07T17:53:38Z
Maverick Wolf:

:Not Quite. This class is actually a combination of the Spellfire Channeler and the Spellfire Heirophant, with additional abilities of my own making. While said classes are not OGL, they're abilities can be used in other OGL things. Using their abilities in another class does not in any way give someone the necessary stats to play one. And I find the term 'rip-off' rather offensive really. Most custom classes use abilities from other classes that have already been published. It's entirely normal.
:Hm... I don't really know... I'm not affiliated/related to the site, etc. I don't really see why I should... Maybe D&D Wiki's own fundrasing campaign (jk - Also that is the page that Blue Dragon has edited the most (I think he wants a free server from Donations that would help Tundra (the current server) running D&D Wiki :) ))... What would you recommend? --Green Dragon 16:07, 18 December 2006 (MST)

::I understand that we are a smaller user base and definitely don't have the pool of resources to draw from that Wikimedia does. It does seem reasonable that if anyone has just a bit of money to donate they should allocate that money to the more needy source. Wikimedia provides the core of this site. Any way you look at it we all owe something back. I'm not saying we should all pour money into or else we're stealing. That's the beauty of the GPL is that anyone, even those lacking ANY funds, can use it. It might just be my opinion, but I feel that by virtue of you using MediaWiki associates you in a way with Wikimedia. In writing this another thought came to mind in regards to having our own drive locally. We can solicit donations, pay for some server costs and then pass up something as D&D Wiki to Wikimedia. I feel that contributing as a group speaks more about us than if the same amount was contributed individually. MediaWiki is what the web was meant to be. It gives the voice to the people, creating a cable public access station as if it had the resources of the entire world. I apologize for the length of this. This is really a culmination of my thoughts, finally consolidated. I really am much more cynical than I seem idealist. I find this whole thing fascinating and exciting but at the same time I worry for its future, not just monetarily. Yes, I am being an evangelist but it is for something once in my life I totally understand and feel some real passion about... Besides D&D. --Xenophon 15:42, 19 December 2006 (MST)

:::I agree with you. I like the idea of having out own drive, then donating half to MediaWiki. Thanks for the idea, and I will get Blue Dragon to work on it soon. Thanks so much for this idea, and possibly Blue Dragon can get another server for this site, and this site can say "Thank you" to MediaWiki... --Green Dragon 15:47, 19 December 2006 (MST)

::::We did not get the donation drive out in time for help with the wikimedia drive, but still, if we more than enough to buy more RAM we will give the rest to wikimedia. So, donate if you would like (I know you may have been put off my Talk:Main Page, but please don't listen to that; Blue Dragon just got carried away... Please forgive and forget, don't let Blue Dragon give you problems...) --Green Dragon 10:54, 29 December 2006 (MST)
Feedback + FR Wiki
I recently came across this wiki by accident but I wanted to say it is excellent, if underpopulated, and I think its relative lack of promotion or awareness is to blame. I am an editor at Forgotten Realms wiki and although our wikis do not necessarily cross paths (FR-wiki is a glorified reference to FR source material), there are opportunities to interact, so I thought I would link to D&D Wiki articles where they exist, instead of other places, and even contribute here where necessary. Fw190a8 19:58, 18 December 2006 (MST)

:A couple things. First off, my wiki is not underpopulated (compare this to this)... Anyway, not trying to get off to a bad start (I have just had a problem with a different "merger" a while back). So, what exactly are you proposing? So we understand each others wikis better, I have started with a comparison. First off, I like that your(?) Wiki has been around for a while, I will say quite a bit longer than mine (Yours founded on 11 October 2005, mine on February 4th 2006). Also, the edits to your wiki are still coming, even though it is not very popular (only 3,657 page views since October 11 2005, whereas mine has 616,691 page views since February 4th 2006). Also, you have quite the user-base, whereas since D&D Wiki is so new it is lacking that (D&D Wiki has under 200 users, you have a very large amount (e.g. Green Dragon is already taken)). I would say our wikis are about the same (not content wise, but statistically speaking...). So, again, what exactly would you like to happen? --Green Dragon 23:49, 18 December 2006 (MST)

:Green Dragon, Thank you for your warm welcome. The D&D Wiki is a great resource, you should definintely be proud of the accomplishment. I only found the site yesterday, and I still haven't been able to look through most of the great content. I know the Wiki format fairly well, but on other Wikis, I've never created articles from scratch, though I have editted many. D&D has been my passion for nearly ten years, and in the past few years I've mostly DM'd campaigns, with the exception of RPGA events, although I have been working on becoming GM certified with the RPGA. I hope I'll be able to contribute positively to the D&D Wiki, though it seems a lot of information has already been covered. I'm really interested in your Wikiworld Campaign Setting project, and as soon as I finish reading all of the source material, I think I've got a pretty decent idea to help the project along; though I'd like to get an idea for how many people are already actively using the project's campaign setting in games they're running. Again, thank you for your welcome. LoneLobo 00:29, 21 December 2006 (MST)

::No problem, my pleasure. Anyway, your contributions to the wikiworld have been very good so far. I dont think you are changing the idea of it, it only looks better than before. About the "Uses": I am sure quite a bit of people are using it, however no one has said such a thing. People never say if they use things from this site, but I know people are because D&D Wiki just keeps gettimg more and more visitors.... Glad you like the site so much and Merry Christmas. Well it's almost Christmas again and social matters tend to take control for a few days and I just wanted to say Thank you for the warm welcome and the help!
DandDwiki is definitely the greatest source for game material I have found and I already know I'll use a lot of it in the coming year.
I noticed how the NPC page got changed around and got reorganized. Nice job on it. I was planning on contributing some new NPC's tonight but I am having trouble editing in order to put in new entries. Little help please? --rowsdower44 18:18, 23 December 2006 (MST)

:Adding NPC's is easier than before. Go to Add a New DnD NPC and follow the discussion. The new CR's are all dynamic (using DPL's) so just make sure your new NPC is part of :Category:DnD, :Category:User, :Category:NPC, and Category:CR----your CR here---. This will make your NPC show on the correct CR page when you have saved your NPC. I hope you like this method, and I am glad it looks better. --Green Dragon 17:35, 23 December 2006 (MST)
Google Custom Search
I don't know if this problem is exclusive to me, but I now have a little bar under my Navigation box that says "Google Custom Search", which would not be a problem, save for the fact that the 'Search' button extends into whatever text I am reading. Along the same lines, the search and Toolbox sections have been shunted to the bottom, and shrunk down to 5pt font. == MSRD ==

Yes, I am posting the MSRD. It's my "wife's away" project. This time, I get to apply all my lessons learned from the SRD. My plan is to post the basic conversions then let others organize it from there. Whether someone else actually picks that up may or may not happens. (I keep telling myself that I will stop fiddling with it. Yeah, right. But it will be secondary unless the MSRD keeps impressing me. Dang they did a good design job on that game.)
:Thanks, Merry New Year to you as well, even though it is a little late. Also, the MSRD is looking very good, and it shows that you have already done this :). Anyway, I hope you finish this before your wife gets back and makes you quit adding the MSRD (quit? == SVG Files ==

Is it possible to upload SVG files, and have wiki automatically convert it on the fly to png? If so how do I do this, when I tried to upload an SVG it said it was not a recommended format, I did not see a way to force it to go. I noticed in the uploaded files area you have a couple that are .svg.png.

Anyway, thanks for the greet, I will try to contribute a little bit when I can. --StarStrike 23:22, 2 January 2007 (MST)

:You cannot have it automatically change it to a .png. Just override the message and upload it anyway, making sure to convert the file to .png beforehand. I hope this is not to much of an inconvenience, and if it is that much of an inconvenience I can have user:Blue Dragon program an extension that does what you are asking for. Would you like an extension added that does this, or would you prefer to just change the file format outside of D&D Wiki? --Green Dragon 23:45, 2 January 2007 (MST)
:Sadly, you cannot post them on D&D Wiki, as they are not released under the OGL (Open Gaming License). For something to be allowed to be distributed that was made by a company it has be released under the OGL. The only reason the SRD is allowed to be here is because the SRD is released under the OGL. == dlpc or Balance Template ==

I was just looking at the Homebrew Prestige Class with Description page and noticed that the table was much larger and seemed to simply not to be reading the classes correctly. So, I went and tried to see what I could do to fix it (if anything) - I think that the table is having a problem reading the names from the [Balance Template|Template:PrC Balance], as the names that are outside the table had all had that template applied to them as opposed to the dlpc template. I don't know for sure, but I could understand if it would work if we got all of them to use it, so I thought I'd check and see which is supposed to be used. Passer 04:06, 20 January 2007 (MST)
::::::I'd include a little primer at the begining of the page, to aleviate the confusion? I'd be happy to do the work on filling it in it, if we started that up. I'd have to make a note, they don't all give you feats. The OCD flaw, for example, allows the character to automatically pass all spot checks, but they need to make a will save (DC 18) every turn that they don't examine the enviroment, taking a -2 on all rolls if they fail.--Cypresslyshra 22:47, 23 January 2007 (MST)
:::::::Okay, here is what you need to do to fit this into D&D Wiki perfectly. Make it a variant rule. And, on the variant rule page briefly explain what this is than give a link to all the things on D&D Wiki that follow this variant rule. On all the pages that follow this variant rule give them a little disclaimer saying something like "This is related to ______________ variant rule, and will work with normal D&D Rules easily, see _______________ for how to implement this into your campaign." Next add all the feats to the list on your variant rule page and on Feats in a good spot (Possibly your own little section, general, or variant, etc). This should work. If I did not makse sense basically just make the item, link it like normal and add a little disclamer linking to your variant rule which would also have a list of all the items that work with this variant. --Green Dragon 22:57, 23 January 2007 (MST)
skills
This is just a general question I need an answer to. Do you have to be trained by someone in skills that do not allow you to use them untrained? Like say I'm a paladin and want to learn knowledge (religion) which is a skill I cannot use without at least a rank of 1. Could I just invest skill points into this or do I have to have someone with knowledge in religion teach me or say read from a book? 65.164.48.63

:A brief overview: there are two kinds of skills, Class Skills and non-class Skills. Every level a character gets a certain amount of skill ranks equal to their classes "Skills/Level" + their Int bonus. So, if they get 2 skills per level from their class, and have an int bonus of +3 they get 5 ranks. These ranks can be put in either their class skills or non-class skills. When a character puts a rank in a class skills they get a 1:1 ratio, one ranks in the skill gives them an additional +1. However, if they put a rank in a non-class skill they get a 1:2 ration, it takes 2 ranks go give a +1 in a certain skill. So, you can use any skill you like even if it is not a class skill they are just harder to get better at. Does this answer you question? --Green Dragon 13:02, 28 January 2007 (MST)

::I understand that. What I meant was on the character sheets, the skills that have a black square next to them can be used untrained meaning that they can be used automatically without any ranks. What I'm asking is if the skills that don't have squares next to them can have rank added to them after you gain a level, or do you need to have someone teach you these skills so that you can invest points? In other words does someone have to train you to use the trained only skills? 65.164.48.132

:::For the most part, that's the DM's call. There's nothing in the rules that says you have to have a tutor to put ranks in any skill. So unless your DM says otherwise, you can put ranks into any skill in which you haven't already invested skill points. —Sledged 19:16, 28 January 2007 (MST)
::::Hm... I play that one cannot use those skills. Just my version... --Green Dragon 19:22, 28 January 2007 (MST)
So, I tried updating User D20M Prestige Classes with Descriptions, but the format of the template automatically converts the link to the page as (DnD Prestige Class) rather than (D20 Modern Prestige Class). We need to make a new dpl thingy header that doesn't do that. I don't know who to contact... so you seemed like a good bet! :) Sorry for my lack of knowledge in this code... <>EldritchNumen 01:32, 13 February 2007 (MST)

:NM! I figured out how to do it myself. I created a new dplc template called D20M_PrC_Description, which is just like the DnD one, except for D20M instead. I'll also make some for D20M base and advanced classes. <>EldritchNumen 01:45, 13 February 2007 (MST)
Minor formatting
Regarding your recent formatting changes:
#If you haven't already, you might want to fix the relevant (new class) templates.
#You might want to confirm with Sledged about the Balance template. I believe he said it no longer takes multiple fields.
#There's considerable inconsistency among the various templates about what belongs in the "Back to" footer.
#Is there something wrong with including Paragon Classes (or other subcategories) in the "Back to" chain? I find it useful.
--Cúthalion 09:51, 13 February 2007 (MST)

:The "Back to" footer is kind of up in the air right now since a new version is being proposed on Sledged's user talk page. The reason I got rid of the Paragon Classes in the "Back to" footer was because none of the other classes link to anything farther than DnD Classes. Also, I will looks at the Balance template. == Greetings from the Netbook of Feats ==

Hi there,

I just wanted to say thanks very much for including the Netbook of Feats in the D&D Wiki. Looks like a great project you have going here and I'm proud to have our work included.

I'm really impressed with the way you have kept the credits for the feats the way you have. Way beyond what is required by the OGL but very much appreciated.

If there is anything I can do to help you out with updates or data just let me know.

Good gaming,

:Hello as well. It is my honor to have the NBoF feats included in D&D Wiki's feats. I have been waiting for this moment to come for quite some time, and I am honestly amazed at how well you are accepting this. I have always known that these feats are okay to have on D&D Wiki with the OGL, however I did not want tensions between the NBoF and D&D Wiki to come about. I really respect the NBoF and I think it does a much better job than D&D Wiki at rating and assessing feats power, playability, and uniqueness. Their are a couple problems with the NBoF feats on D&D Wiki. One of these is that they have not all been added, many of the "Special" or "Different" type feats have not been added to D&D Wiki's feat tables. Another problem is that none of the new version 12.3 feats have been added. Also, most prerequisites have not been added from the feats page to the corresponding tables. Their is still a lot of work to be done, and I am sorry that it has not been done. However, I have a proposition to make you, and I expect you will not like it. Their are many feats (albeit some that are rather shoddy) that are not part of the NBoF. D&D Wiki would be willing to "give" these to the NBoF so they can become part of the NBoF if they were to be reviewed, rated, and fixed by the NBoF while still licensed under the GNU FDL. The problem with these feats is that some have strange prerequisites, are not well made, are confusing, etc and will require a lot of work. So, if you are so willing, D&D Wiki would "give" you these feats if you promise to fix them so they are playable. Does this sound possible? Also, if you just want to help in fully integrating all the feats to D&D Wiki, and not adopting new feats into the NBoF, that is fine. I can help you so you understand how to help D&D Wiki with the NBoF. Would you like to do that and not the adopting, both, none? Whatever is fine just please let me know. --Green Dragon 16:25, 22 February 2007 (MST)

::I hope I am formating this correctly... I will have to take a look at the GNU FDL specifics and see how it works. I try to take care that I use the OGL licence and d20 licence correctly and I have some concerns about mixing them together in our publication. As far as fixing up feats go.. that is pretty much what we do on a regular basis. Asside from the feats that come from the SRD, we work with the original authors of the feats to clean them up and improve them before we publish them. For feats from other d20 sources we tend to make the changes ourselves (since generaly the authors can't be contacted directly). Unfortunately in some ways competing Open Source licenses tend to preclude one another (feats in one could not referecne those in another). I'll give it a look though.

::Anyhow.. NBOF is free so we are other people using the feats for whatever purpose is pretty much what we hope happens with them. The main goal was to make everyday gamers work accessable and professional enough that it would be used by D&D players around the world. 206.57.60.147

:::You almost formatted it correctly, good job for a second try however. Anyway, please tell me if you think you would be willing to implement these feats into the NBoF with the GNU FDL still in place. Thanks for taking the time to look at this, and I hope it is possible from for the NBoF. --Green Dragon 12:30, 24 February 2007 (MST)
Hey. I just nominated myself for adminship (Requests for Adminship/EldritchNumen). What is the policy on advertising? I know, above all, that I should not do any myself.

::::We did not get the donation drive out in time for help with the wikimedia drive, but still, if we more than enough to buy more RAM we will give the rest to wikimedia. == Feedback + FR Wiki ==

Am I simply the owner of a F***ed up machine? Cypresslyshra
:Not at all... Blue Dragon wanted to add Google search to D&D Wiki, then stopped adding it for the day telling me "It wont show up on anyones computer!" So, I believed him, seeing that it never showed up on my PC. Now, however, it appears that it has shown up on other computers... Thanks for bringing this up to me and I will tell Blue Dragon about this problem later (I cannot contact him for a bit).

Anyway, I have to agree D20M is like the better version of D&D, all the problems are worked out (makes one wonder what 4e will be like...).

This is just a Rip-off of the Spellfire Channeler PrC in Magic of Faerun which if I rember correctly is not OGL.

-The Class Ninja

Not Quite
This class is actually a combination of the Spellfire Channeler and the Spellfire Heirophant, with additional abilities of my own making. While said classes are not OGL, they're abilities can be used in other OGL things. Using their abilities in another class does not in any way give someone the necessary stats to play one. And I find the term 'rip-off' rather offensive really. Most custom classes use abilities from other classes that have already been published. It's entirely normal. I felt the PrCs presented for Spellfire were utterly lacking and decided I wanted a Spellfire-based core class. I didn't rip-off anything.

- Maverick Wolf

My sentiments exactly.
When I make varient classes, I tend to just see what the base class that I'm building off of is, and then build straight from there and edit it as I go along. Its simpler for me to think of my classes as "builds" rather than classes, at least untill I'm finished with them.

The Spellfire Warrior is cool, but he's not my style. He seems more of a retributive character, and very reactive. "You get hit with blah." "Ha, I send it back for blah damage.". Not really my idea of a go-to character, but thats just my opinion.

Thamior almost allowed himself to panic. Eight Red Wizards surrounded him, all at a distance. His bow was engulfed in flames and lay 10 feet away. The power usually stored in his body had been emptied, used to destroy the rangers whose tracking and archery skills had landed him in the position he was in, and whose bodies were now scattered next to the few remaining wizards. It had been five long minutes, and it appeared that the wizards had no spells left, so Thamior decided to move and try to make a break for it. Eight rays of icy blue and white launched at him simultaneously. Luckily, the wizards were far enough away to give Thamior plenty of warning. He didn’t try to dodge. Instead, he took in the power, feeling it surge through his body.

Then he smiled. The Red Wizards did not. Yellow and white fire leapt from Thamior’s fingers and eight high-pitched screams echoed through the canyon. The fire stopped as the screams did. Thamior used the remaining power within his body to restore some of his strength. Then he laughed as he walked past the corpses. “The most humiliating defeats are those caused by your own devices,” he told one of the corpses. "I hope they're not laughing too hard where you are."

The Weave is the essence of magic, the very thing that allows magic to exist. Some access the Weave through power gained through knowledge or some innate talent, shaping it to their needs. Others access it through knowledge granted by the gods, not knowing how they actually perform their spells, only knowing that their god has granted them the ability to do so.

There are people of another sort, people who take the raw energy of the Weave and control it. They feel no need to shape it, though some have learned how. These people do not use magic in the normal sense of the word. Instead, they employ it in its raw form, as pure energy, nothing more, nothing less, a combination of the power of magic and the power of a god. These people wield spellfire, an ability that should not be taken lightly.

Many of the people choose to pursue other paths, leaving their spellfire abilities weakened and never learning to shape it in any way. Though they may eventually learn much of what a spellfire warrior does, none of them will ever be his equal. A spellfire warrior focuses almost exclusively on his spellfire abilities, though he also teaches himself combat techniques, knowing spellfire will not always be available, so that he may defend himself when he cannot use his innate talent.

Adventure: A spellfire warrior may adventure for any number of reasons. He may be adventuring for the sole purpose of bettering his own abilities, or to take down those that would wish to destroy him (such as the Cult of the Dragon). A good spellfire warrior may adventure to protect those weaker than himself, while an evil one may be out simply to destroy them.

Characteristics: A spellfire warrior’s main ability is, of course, his spellfire, followed closely by his combat abilities. Though not as strong as other warriors, he can often handle more damage than others, giving him some strength where he might otherwise be weak.

As he gains experience, a spellfire warrior’s talent grows. He eventually learns to shape it, and even to pull some of the very essence of the Weave into himself to recharge. His combat abilities don’t improve much, but are often augmented by his spellfire in one way or another.

Alignment: Spellfire warriors are as varied as any other group and as such have no preferred alignment. Equal numbers of good and evil spellfire warriors exist within the world, and even those on the same axis of good and evil may differ greatly in their stands on chaos and law.

Religion: Many spellfire warriors worship Mystra, for she is the essence of the Weave, and without her they would be nothing. Others worship their racial deities, but willingly acknowledge Mystra’s effect on their lives, and at least do more than pay her lip service.

Backgrounds: Spellfire warriors come from all sorts of backgrounds, from poor servant boys to kings. No common background theme can be found among them.

Races: Like their backgrounds, spellfire warriors have no race that is more common than another race, being found equally among the more civilized races. Though they are not quite as common among uncivilized races, they are nonetheless far from rare.

Other Classes: Spellfire warriors have no special feelings towards other classes, except perhaps those who are spellfire channelers, who they pity. They acknowledge that all classes have their own inner strengths and as such should no be belittled.

Role: Spellfire warriors serve best as backup fighters and healers. Though they excel in neither of these roles, they are decent in both, and can prove to be of great assistance. They are meant to be part of the background, as their abilities tend to make them glaring targets, which is why a decent amount of their “training” focuses on defense.

Game Rule Information
Spellfire Warriors have the following game statistics:

Abilities: Constitution is extremely important, as it grants the ability to store more spellfire energy levels safely and also grants them more hit points. Charisma is also important, as it fuels a
number of the spellfire warrior’s abilities. Strength and Dexterity often prove important, as it increases their combat prowess.

Alignment: Any

Hit Die: d8

Class Skills
The spellfire warrior’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are: Balance (Dex), Climb (Str), Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Disguise (Cha), Escape Artist (Dex), Hide (Dex), Jump (Str), Knowledge (arcana) (Int), Move Silently (Dex), Profession (Wis), Ride (Dex), Spellcraft (Int), Survival (Wis), Swim (Str), Tumble (Dex), and Use Magic Device (Cha). See Chapter 4: Skills of the Player’s Handbook version 3.5 for skill descriptions.

Skill Points at First Level: (4 + Intelligence modifier) x4

Skill Points at Each Additional Level: 4 + Intelligence modifier

Class Features
All of the following are class features of the spellfire warrior:

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Spellfire warriors are proficient with all simple weapons and martial weapons. Spellfire warriors are proficient in light armor and with shields, but not tower shields.

Spellfire Wielder: A spellfire warrior automatically gains the Spellfire Wielder feat from Magic of Faerun at first level. Remember that allowance of this feat is specifically left to the DM, so you can’t take this class if the feat isn’t allowed.

Force of Personality (Ex): Much like a sorcerer, some of a spellfire warrior’s strength comes from his own personality, in its own way. Saves against the spellfire warrior’s blasts of spellfire do not have the set Reflex save DC of 20. Instead, the DC is equal to 10 + the spellfire wielder’s Charisma bonus (minimum 1) + ½ the spellfire wielder’s class levels (minimum 1) in the attack.

Rapid Fire Burst(Ex): When using spellfire blasts, a spellfire warrior may strike with a rapid fire burst at the expense of accuracy. When doing so, she may make one extra attack in a round at her highest base attack bonus, but this attack takes a –2 penalty, as does each other attack made that round. The resulting modified base attack bonuses are the same as found under the Flurry of Blows Attack Bonus column on Table: The Monk. This penalty applies for 1 round, so it also affects attacks of opportunity the spellfire wielder might make before her next action. When a spellfire warrior reaches 5th level, the penalty lessens to –1, and at 9th level it disappears. A spellfire warrior must use a full attack action to strike with a rapid fire burst.

When a spellfire warrior reaches 11th level, her rapid fire burst ability improves. In addition to the standard single extra attack she gets from rapid fire burst, she gets a second extra attack at her full base attack bonus.

This ability may be used to strike multiple targets, but no two targets may be more than 15 feet apart.

Improved Wielder: A spellfire warrior may use up to 2x his Constitution score in spellfire energy levels per round, but not more than his Constitution score per blast.

Endurance: The spellfire warrior gains the Endurance feat. The bonus to Constitution checks also applies to Constitution checks for storing spellfire energy levels above normal (see Spellfire Battery, below).

Elemental Control: A spellfire warrior gains the Elemental Control feat free at 3rd level.

Spellfire Battery (Ex): The spellfire warrior’s capacity for storing spellfire energy levels is multiplied by the listed value. However, storing spellfire energy levels in excess of the spellfire warrior’s Constitution score is dangerous, with different effects depending upon the number of levels stored.
Constitution +1 to Constitution x2: The spellfire warrior’s eyes glow brightly, and any creature, magic item, or spell effect that touches the spellfire warrior causes 1 spellfire energy level to be discharged as a harmless burst of light. Once per day, the spellfire warrior must make a Constitution check (DC 10) or take 1d6 points of damage as one of his spellfire energy levels backfires.
Constitution x2 +1 to Constitution x3: As above, plus the spellfire warrior’s skin glows (shedding light as a candle), a touch attack releases 1d4 spellfire energy levels as light, and the spellfire warrior must make the backfire Constitution check every hour.
Constitution x3 +1 to Constitution x4: As above, except the spellfire warrior sheds light equal to a torch, feels a burning sensation within his body (treat as if distracted by nondamaging spell, DC 20 to concentrate), and must make the backfire Constitution check every minute. A touch releases 1d6 spellfire energy levels as a flare spell (DC 10 + number of spellfire energy levels expended) against the spellfire warrior and all creatures within 5 feet of him.
Constitution x4 +1 to Constitution x5: As above, except the spellfire warrior radiates a palpable (but nondamaging) heat to a radius of 20 feet, is in pain (treat as if distracted by nondamaging spell, DC 25 to concentrate), and must make the backfire Constitution check every round. A touch releases 2d6 spellfire energy levels as a flare spell (DC 10 + number of spellfire energy levels expended). The spellfire warrior must make a Will save (DC 25) every round or be forced to expend a maximum-strength blast of energy at a random target within 30 feet in preference to any other action. He may attempt another Will save (DC 20) to choose the target.
Regardless of the number of spellfire energy levels stored, a spellfire warrior can voluntarily expend only a number of spellfire energy levels per round equal to his Constitution score. (Involuntary expenditure, such as that noted above, isn’t limited in this way.)

Improved Healing (Su): Beginning at 5th level, the spellfire warrior restores 1d4+1 hit points per spellfire energy level expended when using his ability to heal by touch (rather than the normal 2 points per spellfire energy level).

Drain Charged Item (Sp): As a standard action, a spellfire warrior can drain a single charge from a touched charged item (including single use items such as potions and scrolls), converting the energy into a single stored spellfire energy level. A full drained item has no magical properties (a potion becomes water, a scroll becomes blank paper). Only one feature of a multiple-use item (such as a scroll with several spells) can be drained per round. A creature gets to make a Will save (DC10 + Charisma modifier + ½ class level) to prevent one of its held or carried items from being drained.

Weapon of Energy (Su): Beginning at 8th level, a spellfire warrior may channel his spellfire through his fists or his weapon. By expending one or more spellfire energy levels as a free action, his fists or weapon becomes surrounded by spellfire energy. Any attack he makes deals an additional 1d6 points of elemental damage. The type of elemental damage is chosen at the time of charging the weapon, and may be changed each round as a free action. The aura of spellfire lasts for a number of rounds equal to the number of spellfire energy levels spent.

Weapon Focus: At 9th level, the spellfire warrior gains the Weapon Focus (spellfire) feat. If he has already taken this, he instead gains Greater Weapon Focus (spellfire).

Recharge (Ex): At 11th level, the spellfire warrior has become attuned to the flow of magic and can draw upon the Weave itself for energy, rather than relying solely upon absorbing other magic. Each day (after a full night's rest) he regains a number of spellfire energy levels equal to 2 x his class level. This cannot raise his stored spellfire energy above his Constitution score, so if he already has a number of stored energy levels equal to or greater than his Constitution, he does not gain any additional energy levels.

Drain Permanent Item (Sp): The spellfire warrior can drain power from permanent magic items by touch as a standard action. If the item is held or worn, the spellfire warrior must make a melee touch attack to touch it, which provokes an attack of opportunity from the defender. The spellfire warrior must make a level check (d20 + class level) with a bonus to the check equal to ½ his Charisma bonus (if any) against a DC of 11+ the caster level of the item to drain it. A success means the item’s properties are suppressed (as if affected by dispel magic) for 24 hours and the spellfire warrior gains spellfire energy levels equal to half the item’s caster level.

Ranged Healing (Su): The spellfire warrior gains the ability to release stored spellfire levels to heal at a range of up to 25 feet (plus 5 feet/4 levels). This requires a ranged touch attack. When used in this way, the spellfire warrior only heals 2 points of damage per spellfire energy level expended, until 17th level, when it increases to 1d4 +1.

Flight (Su): The spellfire warrior can expend spellfire energy levels to fly as the spell. Each spellfire energy level expended allows the spellfire warrior to fly for 1 minute. The flying spellfire warrior leaves a visible trail of light that fades after 1 round.

Greater Charged Item Drain (Sp): A spellfire warrior of 14th level or higher can drain a number of charges from a touched charged item (including single-use items such as potions or scrolls), converting the energy into stored spellfire energy levels. The limit to the number of charges she can drain is equal to his Charisma bonus (minimum 1), but he can’t drain more charges than the item has remaining (each spell on a scroll counts as one charge). A fully drained item has no magical properties (a potion becomes water, a scroll becomes blank paper). A creature gets to make a Will save (DC 10 + ½ class level + Charisma modifier) to prevent one of its held or carried items from being drained.

Spellfire Reserve (Ex): At 16th level, the spellfire warrior learns how to store spellfire energy levels in deep reserve. These energy levels don’t count as part of the character’s normal storage capacity, but they also can’t be used to power spellfire effects without first calling them from reserve. Spellfire energy levels in reserve also don’t detect as magical (allowing a spellfire warrior to disguise his true nature). Placing any number of spellfire energy levels into reserve or calling any number of levels from reserve requires a full-round action that provokes an attack of opportunity. The spellfire warrior can store a number of energy levels in reserve equal to his class level plus his Constitution bonus (if any), but cannot store more than his Constitution score.

Spellfire Burst (Su): At 17th level, the spellfire warrior can substitute a spellfire burst for a normal spellfire blast. The range remains the same, but instead of requiring a touch attack, the spellfire energy explodes in a 5-foot radius burst at the target point, dealing appropriate damage to all creatures in the area (Reflex half, DC 10 + ½ class level + Charisma modifier). This ability costs an additional two spellfire energy levels per blast and can be used in conjunction with other abilities.

Crown of Fire: By expending 10 spellfire energy levels, a channeler can manifest the crown of fire, which appears as a halo around his head and provides light equal to a daylight spell. The crown of fire gives him damage reduction 10/magic and automatically melts all non-magical weapons that strike him (after they deal damage, if any). The crown of fire grants the spellfire warrior spell resistance 32 (as a spell resistance spell by a 20th level caster). Maintaining the crown of fire requires expending 10 spellfire energy levels each round, which can be done as a free action. The crown of fire does not interfere with the the spellfire warrior's actions, including using other spellfire abilities, such as calling up spellfire energy levels from reserve.

Greater Permanent Item Drain (Sp): Beginning at 18th level[/color], a spellfire warrior can drain increased amounts of power from permanent magic items. This functions as the drain permanent item class ability, but the spellfire warrior instead gains a number of spellfire energy levels equal to the caster level of the item and is not required to make a caster level check. Held or carried items get a Will save to avoid being drained (DC 10 + ½ class level + Charisma modifier). An item with all its permanent abilities drained for the day is still a magic item (for purposes of saving throws against when damaged, etc.).

Maelstrom of Fire (Su): The spellfire warrior can release spellfire energy in all directions as a 20-foot-radius spread, dealing 1d6 damage per spellfire energy level expended to all creatures in the area, including allies (Reflex half, DC 10 + ½ class level + Charisma modifier). Also, your spellfire bursts now effect a 10-foot radius burst.

Overcharge (Ex): The spellfire warrior is capable of handling much larger amounts of spellfire energy. All limitations on his spellfire capacity are tripled, including the limit on how many spellfire energy levels he may expend per round. This applies to spellfire battery as follows: up to Constitution x3 – no problems; (Constitution x3 ) +1 to Constitution x4 – as Constitution +1 to Constitution x2, etc.

Haste: A spellfire warrior of 20th level or higher may expend spellfire energy levels to gain the effects of the haste spell. To activate this effect, the spellfire warrior must expend 5 spellfire energy levels. Afterwards, he must spend two spellfire energy levels as a free action to maintain the effect. A spellfire warrior under this effect sparkles with light.

Spellfire Warrior (D&D Class)

Charisma is also important, as it fuels a number of the spellfire warrior’s abilities.
